Marshall, Minnesota is a small town located in the far northwestern corner of Minnesota. The population was 592 as of the 2010 census and it is the county seat for Marshall County. It lies on the Missouri River, just east of its confluence with the Dakota River. The area that now makes up Marshall was first settled by Norwegian immigrants in 1854. The post office name began to be used in 1886 and it arrived at what is now Marshall from Sioux City, Iowa. The community was named after General James H. Marshall who fought in World War I and later served as Commanding Officer, First Army Corps (1918-1920). In 1930, three sisters donated land for a junior high school which became McCulloch High School. The town's only store opened in 1938 and closed in 1971. In 2006, the town renovated its Main Street square with new sidewalks and pavement and installed a new fountain/spa complex near its library which replaced an existing garage structure that had been used as a dumping ground for years. That same year also saw the opening of the first business park in central Minnesota when Pembina Park Communities Inc., bought adjacent property off of city streets within walking distance of McCulloch High School to create an open-air business center with more than 100 retail shops including restaurants, movie theaters, convenience stores and pharmacies. The town remains vibrant with some 1,000 residents commuting into Minneapolis each day for work or pleasure; local businesses generate $30 million annually in economic activity alone!

Weiser and named for General Winfield Scott Hancock (1784-1865), one of the heroes of the Mexican-American War and founder of Wichita, Kansas. The first post office was established in 1881, and it continued to be open until 1903. Marshall had 1 store and no hotel when it incorporated as a village in 1893. In 1900, Marshall had 5 stores and 20 residents; its population increased to 100 by 1910. In 1920, Marshall had 10 stores and 30 residents; its population increased to 150 by 1930. By 1940, there were 14 stores and 50 residents; its population increased to 200 by 1950. In 1960,Marshall had 38 stores and 90 residents; its population increased to 248 by 1970. During this time period, Marshall also became known as "thetown with history." In 1990-1991, due to budget cuts within the local government, Marshalls schools closed for three months during the winter months due to lack of funding from state legislators who would not provide additional resources for education outside of Minneapolis/St Paul area school districts which were more populous than those serving Marshall County at that time - this decision angered some citizens who felt their taxes went towards better public schools while their townsfolk lost access to crucial services such as health care or libraries centuries ago now available only through larger urban areas Edit Today's Marshal is home to over 350 active businesses providing quality jobs & services along with over $60 million in annual economic activity

The town's population rapidly rose during the late 1800s and early 1900s, reaching more than 10,000 by 1910. Marshall experienced another growth period during World War I, when its population increased from 1,500 to over 20,000. However, the town's prosperity faded during the Great Depression and World War II. Its population reached only 556 residents by 1960. Afterward, Marshall slowly declined until it officially disappeared from government records in 1982.
