Marshall, Minnesota is a town in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 556 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The name of the town comes from Native American word "marsh" which means "a place where deer and other game are hunted." One early settlement in Marshall was called Winterset because it was located on the edge of a swamp that supported winter wheat crops. In 1851, Colonel James W. Marshall purchased 640 acres (250 hectares) of land east of present-day Marshall and founded the city of Marshall on what would become its main square. In 1868, John Atherton donated 340 acres (130 hectares) to the city for use as a parkland; this parcel now forms part of First Avenue Northeast. The first gun magazine in Marshall was built by J H Clements in 1875 just south of Main Street next to his grocery store. This magazine served as a model for many later magazines across America including Winchester's Wyatt Earp Gun Shop in 1911 and Colt's Manufacturing Company's Armory near Buffalo Springfield, Massachusetts during World War I. The armory closed after World War I but its legacy can still be seen today with its large brick building at 406 Main Street across from US 61/I-35W exit number 2A serving as both an antique and hobby shop complex since 1976-. In 1895, George Fenton opened his own gunsmithing business on Main Street just north of the old armory; he were responsible for creating most all firearms ever made including M1 Garand rifles used by Ulysses S Grant during world war I and also developed Patent No 214515 which granted him exclusive rights to produce semiautomatic pistols chambered for .38 Special ammo starting in 1915

In the 1940s, the population of Marshall increased significantly as World War II led to an increase in industry and jobs in the area. In 1949, Marshall became home to the United States Air Force Academy and has since been a major center for education and military service. With its growing economy and changing demographics, Marshall is now experiencing some growth again; however, it remains a small town with limited resources.

Marshall is a small town in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 5,713 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area and forms the eastern edge of Minneapolis' downtown area. The first European settler in Marshall was John Armstrong who arrived in 1854 from Illinois. He built a cabin on the site of present day Marshall High School and named it Armstrong's Station after himself and his son. In 1856, another pioneer, Isaac Wohlgemuth, also founded Marshall by driving out wild buffalo with an ox team from Bottineau Lake nearpresent day Duluth. Wohlgemuth named his village after General Ulysses S. Grant who had led American forces during the Mexican–American War (1846-48). For many years it was thought that Grant's name originated in nearby Canada because one of his ancestors had come over as a passenger on the ship "Eagle" which landed at what is now Marshall on November 3, 1847! When America gained its independence from Great Britain in 1776, many people moved to new countries including some families that came toMinnesota specifically forthe land north of Fort Snelling (present day Minneapolis). One such family was the Hamiltons who settled in what is now Marshall in 1857; they were Native Americans who migrated from New York State via Ontario province to help settle this land which they saw as their sacred homeland since it was given to them by their shaman father known as “Moccasin Man” or “Great Chief” according to one account . Others arrived later during the 1840s when railroads began opening up Midwest areas for settlement . Many Germans also immigrated through Minnesota during this time period . The Hamiltons were followed by other German immigrants such as John Haggerty and George Kapp before 1850 when American traders started selling fur products alongMinnesota's border withCanada . By 1860 there were over 100 German families living here although most residents still spoke German at home . Farming became important early on due to lack of available water resources west of Manitoba where settlers went looking for irrigation systems ; however , logging became more prevalent starting around 1870 when forests became depleted due to overgrazing by Canadian herds Of deer brought overland by trappers
