Today, much like before, many residents are struggling to make ends meet due to difficult economic times and decreasing job opportunities even though tourism has become an important part of local economy once again. Despite these struggles however, many residents remain determined to keep their community alive by working together towards common goals such as creating new businesses or providing services that may be needed during tough times such as these

Over time, there have been several new businesses added to Lino Lakes – such as a convenience store and gas station. In 1960, Lino Lakes became part of Maplewood County, which also included neighboring townships of Seymour and Cedar Rapids. In 1998, Maplewood Countys merged with Ramsey County to form MN Statehood; however, Lino Lakes remains within MN Statehood today. As part of this process, decisions about future municipal boundaries were made; as a result, most of the current buildings on Main Street date from after 2000. Lino Lakes is located 30 miles (48 km) west of Minneapolis/St Paul International Airport and 60 miles (96 km) northwest of Duluth/Mankato Airport
Lino Lakes is a municipality in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 5,471 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area. The Lino Lakes agricultural region was first settled in 1881 by Germans from eastern Germany. The community of Lino Lakes was founded on a farmstead purchased by George Wickersham in 1885. A post office called Lino Lakes was established in 1886, and mail service to the community began operation that year. In 1901, the name of the townwas changed to Lino Lake after an act of the Minnesota Legislature which named several towns within Hennepin County after rivers or lakes located near them: Clearwater (1881), Sioux (1892), Cedar Falls (1901), and Lino Lake (1911). Lino Lakes became a city in 1953 when it merged with neighboring Maplewood. At its peak as a city, Maplewood had a population of over 100,000 people. However, as Maplewood lost some of its commercial and residential areas to suburbanization during the late 1960s and early 1970s, its population declined until it reached its current level of around 30,000 people. As part of larger Minneapolis-St Paul metropolitan area growth throughout recent decades, much development has taken place within walking distance of downtown Minneapolis including significant amount for housing development outside downtown boundaries; this makes Neighborhood watch programs more important than ever due to increased crime rates and potential homeless encampments next to busy streets
