Lino Lakes began as a mill town in 1858 and became a larger community in 1881 when it incorporated as a city. Lino Lakes was named for Lorenzo de Lamas by his family members who were among the early settlers there. In 1915, Lino Lakes became the first municipality west of the Mississippi to adopt an official motto: "Pioneering Community" The city's economy has been based on agriculture since its founding and manufacturing until the late 20th century; today, most of Lino Lakes' employment comes from services such as retail sales and professional services. The city has two high schools - Central High School and Hastings High School - and one middle school, Wright Middle School. There are also several local businesses that provide essential services to residents including libraries, parks, Streetsboro Drugstore, post office, currency exchange service (COPE), grocery store (Mall of America), gas station (Chevrolet dealership), restaurant (Hastings Inn) and doctor's office (University Medical Center). According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau estimate*, Lino Lakes had a population of 1,611* people living in 599 households*. In 2007*, there were 1,812* people living in 602 households*. The racial makeup of Lino Lakes was *94% White*, *2% African American*, *1% Native American*, **0% Asian Pacific Islander*, **0% Pacific Islander%, & **1% from other races*. Hispanic or Latino residents made up 2% of the population*. As of 2010 according to unofficial estimates by CNNMoney* only 893 people live within ZIP code 55025 which includes much of central-centralMinnesota suburbs like Maplewood and Bloomington with over 10K jobs* but no real community center or shopping district so nearby towns get all their shopping done close by while large cities have all sorts of new shops built near them.* This leaves smaller towns without any real Village feel except for some small businesses scattered around

Lino Lakes is a town in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,869 at the 2010 census. Lino Lakes was named after Luigi Lino, a postmaster in the early days of the community. Lino Lakes began as an agricultural community on the present day site of Lino Lake. A sawmill and grist mill were built in 1879 and 1881, respectively, and soon thereafter other mills opened up in nearby villages such as Hastings and White Bear Lake. In 1892, construction began on what is now the village of Lino Lakes. The first store opened in 1893 and by 1899 there were five buildings in town. By 1908 there were twenty-four businesses in town and it had grown to over 100 residents. The Panic of 1893 destroyed many small towns throughout America and led to a decline for Lino Lakes during the mid-19th century; however, by 1920 it had regained some prominence as an agricultural center with a population of only 380 people. However, during World War II most of the mills closed down due to wartime rationing; however, one still remains active today (the Village Mill). A new shopping center was developed near downtown Lino Lakes which opened up in 1984. The village has since undergone several revisions including annexation into Hennepin County in 2002 which increased its population by 10%. At present there are around seventy-five residents within its limits mailing address being 90215 Highway 6 N., Suite D-2 Bldg 4 - this makes it one of only two municipalities located within Hennepin County that falls entirely within its borders post office box number is 85411
Lino Lakes is a community in Minnesota that was first settled by German immigrants in the late 1800s. The community was named for Lino, an Italian peasant who helped settle the area. In 1925, Lino Lakes became a city and has since grown to be one of the most popular communities in the state.
