They hunted and gathered game in what is now northeastern Minnesota. After hunting and gathering for many centuries, they started to settle down around 4200 BCE when retreating glaciers left behind an open range that extended from what is now southwestern Manitoba to eastern Wisconsin and as far north as Georgian Bay in Ontario, Canada. By 1000 CE some villages had developed along the edge of what would become present-day Lakeville; these people are thought to be descendants of the Algonquian culture which migrated from North America between 3000–4000 BCE. In 1854, prospectors discovered oil shale near present day Hastings in Cook County while exploring for a new means of generating power for Chicagoans during its early days as a town (the first town in Illinois). In 1865 the first railroad was built through this area and Hannibal became known as "the Oil Capital of America". This led to development around downtown Hannibal with several businesses opening up including hardware stores, flour mills and breweries; all within walking distance of each other making it easy for residents to get their goods wherever they wanted them! One such brewery was Anheuser Busch which started out manufacturing beer direct from suppliers without going through brewers like Sam Adams or Coors Brewing Company etc., until Prohibition put a stop to that! A new era began for Hannibal when electric streetlights were installed by Samuel Inslee in 1925!! The downtown business district went into high gear with numerous restaurants (including Giannini’s Italian Restaurant), movie theaters (Old Capitol Theater being one) and even a lighted golf course becoming popular among locals! Businesses continued expanding even after prohibition ended but by 1960 only 2% of employment still depended on brewing!!! Today there are over 20 businesses operating within 1 mile radius so it's safe to say that brewing has not been lost amongst our community members here at Lakeville -_-

Lakeville is a small town in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,857 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area and is located on the eastern edge of Ramsey County. The first settler in what would become Lakeville was John Lutz. He arrived in 1847 and named it after his home state, Germany. Lutz donated land to build a post office, school, and general store on his farmstead near present day Higgins Road and 10th Avenue Southeast. In 1881, Fenton Waddell platted what became the town of Lakeville on land he had acquired from John Lutz. Waddell named it for his friend General George Armstrong Custer who had been killed at the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1890. In 1930, Lakeville amalgamated with neighboring townships to form the city of Minneapolis-Saint Paul. The merger created a large ruralurban area that continues to experience strong growth today
Lakeville was founded in 1851 by Danish immigrants, most of whom were farmers. The town quickly became a center for trade and industry, with a cotton gin and sawmill being the mainstay of its economy. In the 1920s, Lakeville experienced rapid growth as a result of its access to Highway 20 and the timber industry. However, during World War II, the town was harshly bombed by Japanese forces and lost many residents; it only regained some stability after Allied forces liberated the city in 1945. Today, Lakeville is home to a small but vibrant community that revolves around agriculture and forestry.
