Lakeville, Minnesota is located on the edge of a large prairie that stretches for over 100 miles. This location has played an important role in the city’s history. The first settlers in this area were Dakota Indians who arrived in 1854. The land was donated by the federal government to the city and it was not until 1908 that a water pipeline was built to bring water from Sioux City, Iowa to Lakeville. At that time, the city had a population of just under 1,000 people. The first businesses in town were grocery stores and a post office. The biggest employer in town at that time was the United States Post Office which operated out of a building constructed by local men for $4,000. In 1966, Lakeville became home to the world’s first artificial intelligence laboratory when researchers from MIT set up shop there. Today, Lakeville is one of the most vibrant cities in Minnesota with over 80 thousand residents and more than 20 businesses scattered throughout its sixsquare-mile territory. The municipality features an active downtown corecomplete with restaurants and nightlife options; two golf courses; riverfront parks; numerous cultural attractions including art galleries and theaters; as well as lakeside communities including Maple Grove and Cottonwood Heights. There are also several small villages located within easy reach of Lakeville such as Willmore or Northfield.

Lakeville is a small town in the central part of Minnesota. It was founded in 1873 by parents of four children who had emigrated from Norway. The population was 5,000 at the time of the first census in 1880. After a few years, the population increased to 10,000 and then 15,000 before reaching its current size. The name Lakeville comes from theMinnesota River which flows through it. The community grew around two schools: Lakeshore Elementary School and Central High School. In 1937, Lakeshore Elementary became a high school and Central High became an elementary school. In 1960, Central High School closed and merged with Lakeshore Elementary to form Lakeville-Lakeshore Middle School. Today, both schools are again separate but integrated into one school district. The economy of Lakeville is based on agriculture and manufacturing. Agriculture includes milk production, hay production, potato farming, corn growing and some light manufacturing such as textiles and furniture making. Manufacturing includes a variety of products for local consumption such as automobiles and home appliances; clothing for women; shoes made out of rubber or leather; ice cream; paper goods;and other items not related to agriculture or manufacture

By 1870, the town had enough people to start trading goods with other communities in the area. In 1872, an act was passed which allowed for construction of a school and courthouse. The town also gained its name from nearby Clearwater Creek which flows through it. In 1876, when railroad tracks were completed between Minneapolis and St Paul, businesses started moving into Lakeville to take advantage of this new commerce. This growth continued until 1907 when World War I interrupted business growth. After the war, Lakeville resumed its rapid growth rate but again hit hard during World War II due to military activity on the river nearby. However, after 1945, business picked up again and by 1970, Lakeville had reached its current size and status as a major city inMinnesota
Lakeville is a town in Polk County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,859 at the 2010 census. The first permanent settler in the area was John Winters who arrived in 1858.
