The first firearms sights in Hugo, Minnesota were designed by George Washington Ladd and patented on December 2, 1855. The Ladd gunsight was a manually operated iron sight that consisted of a lens and an armillary sphere. It allowed the shooter to maintain target engagement while moving around their rifle. Back-Up Iron Sightsystems Back up iron sight systems allow shooters who do not have an open sight nor a cross-hair sighting system to still hit their targets by seeing what is behind the barrel instead of just ahead of it like with open eyesight systems. These systems work by mounting an IR scope onto the front end of your handgun and placing it over your eye in order for you shoot using this scope instead of relying solely on vision alone
Hugo had its start in 1855 as a small town in the far northeast corner of Minnesota. It was named after General Winfield Scott, who fought in the Mexican-American War and then served as governor of Minnesota. The community grew rapidly during the early 1800s, thanks to its location near the Dakota Access Pipeline and other mining operations. In 1881, Hugo became a city and it has since grown into one of the most populous communities in central Minnesota.

Hugo has experienced many changes over time including increasing numbers of Italian people and American Indians who also helped contribute to its growth. Today, Hugo is known for its wide variety of businesses including restaurants, clothing stores, banks and other types of shops and services. These businesses have helped support local economic development which has helped make Hughes one of the most vibrant communities in Saint Cloud County
