This makes it one of the smallest towns in Ramsey County by population size; however it does have one of the larger areas within its boundaries (the unincorporated portion totaling just over ). According to 2011 Census estimates there are currently 1,025 people living within Hugo's limits who identify as being "born or naturalized citizens".
