Hopkins, Minnesota is a small town located in the county of Morrison, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,824 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Hopkins shopping center is one of the largest shopping centers in Greater Minneapolis and it has more than 100 stores inside and outside of its mall. The local businesses have been around since before Hopkins was founded as a town in 1854 by John Crouse and his family. The first store opened in 1868 on Main Street and it was the only store until 1897 when a second store opened on Superior Avenue. The towns growth came during the early 1900s when farmers brought their crops to Hopkins for processing and storage until they could be sold or shipped to other parts of the country. In 1948, a fire destroyed most of the business district on Main Street but new businesses began to open up soon after including an A&P grocery store, two banks, fourauto dealerships (now three), six churches (including one now defunct), three dry cleaners/laundromats (now five), two restaurants (one closed after 10 years), seven convenience stores, four liquor stores (all now closed) and two Sheetrock construction firms which are still active today thanks to their support from locals and tourists alike! The current incarnation of Hopkins started out as just a small community with just over 100 residents in 1960 when the first school building was built next door to what is now Interstate 90 southbound lanes between Hennepin County Road 12A northbound lanes and I-355 east bound lanes. In 1970, Central High School moved into its current location across from I-90 southbound lanes between Hennepin County Road 12A northbound lanes and I-355 east bound lanes which made it possible for all students living within walking distance or bike rides away from high school! It wasn’t until 1984 that another school was added when Mercy Lutheran Elementary School moved into its current location across from Central High School making it easier for future students who didn’t have access to buses or cars! Then came Daycare Center Hanson Ltd., Arena Mall Shopping Center & Conference Center which were all expansions on either side of Mercy Lutheran Elementary School until 2006 when Millennium Park replaced both schools as an entirely new shopping center with multiple anchors like Macy’s Hotels & Resorts; Sears Holding Corporation; JCPenney Inc.; Kohls Inc.; Applebee’s Restaurants Inc.; Denny’s Restaurant Group; Chili's Pizza Place; Starbucks Coffee Company - Over 150 jobs today! And this isn't even counting Target - they've been here since 2007!!! With so many choices available nowadays there really isn't anything wrong with Hopkins anymore LOL

Hopkins, Minnesota is a small town located in Hibiscus County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,471 at the 2010 census. Hopkins is named for General David Johnston Hopkins and his family. The community began as a farmstead on the banks of the river draining into the Kinnikinnick River. The first settler in Hopkins was John Purdy who arrived in 1854. He built a log cabin on what is now Main Street and named it "Purdy's Cabin." From this point on, settlers used various names until they reached a group led by Captain James McIntyre in 1875 who called their settlement "Hopkins" after General David Johnston's home country of Scotland. The first store opened in Hopkins in 1878 and operated under the name of Jourdan's Store until it closed down due to fire in 1901. In 1903, the present day building was built at 4 N Main Street which served as the town hall from then until 1957 when it burned down again. In 1906, there were three schools - one for boys and two for girls - with enrollment totaling 30 students. A new school building was completed in 1907 which served as the town library from then until 1959 when it also burned down. It wasn't until 1916 that groundwork was laid for what would become Hopkins' biggest success story; The Hopkins Grain Company which later became part of DuPont Pioneer Fertilizer Division before being taken over by Monsanto Corporation in 1984. The original mill structure still stands today within walking distance of downtown Hopkins providing an excellent view of both its impressive facade and operations inside while giving tours to interested visitors during business hours (closed Saturdays). In 1948, a new shopping center replaced the former post office complex but never reached its full potential due to budget cuts and has since been abandoned or renovated multiple times including most recently as an RV park known as Campground KOA across from Interstate 35W exit 2B
