In 1892, Hastings, Minnesota Territory was created from the western half of Dakota Territory. The territory was named in honor of Major General George Armstrong Custer during the American Civil War. At that time, there were few farmers in the area and Targets Unlimited Shooting Company was born to provide targets for target shooting competitions and other events. The company continued to grow over the years and by 1944 it had become one of the largest target companies in America. By 1978, Targets Unlimited Shooting Company had also moved its headquarters from Hastings to Minneapolis. In 1992, Targetts Unlimited merged with Crosman Inc., which became Crosman-Targets International Corporation (CTI). CTI continues to produce targets and provides customer service through its subsidiaries including retailer mallTarget Corp., online storeTarget.com, outdoor retailers Outdoor inference Trading Co., firearms dealer Achey Guns & Ammo Inc., as well as professional staff members at various divisions such as manufacturing plants in Illinois, Ohio and Texas.
