Indeed,despite being called “Hammers” creek by early settlers – little evidence exists to support that claim beyond legend and local lore. In fact,the hamlet at present day HamLake may have originated as nothing more than an unincorporated agricultural community located very close to contemporary Hibbing (now Minneapolis). It wasn’t until 1881 that anyone actually built a permanent home within sight of modern dayHamLake – only four years after the community had been founded! This early development suggests that there must have been some serious interest in establishing a settlement hereabouts back then! What followed shortly thereafter would setHam Lakes apart as one of America’s most popular tourist destinations for outdoor enthusiasts and families alike: The Great Minnesota Railroad started providing direct access to all sorts of local attractions (including hike/bike trails) from centralMinnesota via HAM Lakeshore! This made HAM Lakeshore quickly become one of America’s top destination spots for tourists looking for an interesting getaway from everyday life! Ham Lake is a small, freshwater lake located in the extreme northeast corner of Minnesota. The name comes from the Dakota Sioux word "Hame" meaning "large body of water." Ham Lake was first surveyed in 1855 by the U.S. Geological Survey and named for Rear Admiral John C. Ham, Director of Coast and Geodetic Surveys at that time. The hamlet on its eastern shore became known as Fort Snelling after General Snelling, who commanded the Department of Dakota during the Indian Wars in 1876-1877.
