Bipedalism is the use of two legs towalk, run, or climb. Bipedalism began evolving about 350 million years ago. Quadrupeds evolved from bipedal ancestors that had four limbs. They transitioned to a quadruped form about 100 million years ago when they lost their second toe and started using three limbs instead of two. The first true humans appeared about 20,000 years ago and were able to walk on all fours like quadrupeds. Ham Lake is a small town located in east-central Minnesota. The population was 5,711 at the 2010 census. Ham Lake is home to the town hall and three churches – First Presbyterian, United Methodist and Lutheran. It also has an elementary school, high school and two businesses – a gas station and a convenience store. The first people to settle in Ham Lakes were Scandinavian immigrants who arrived during the late 1800s. They built homes on longboats that ferried goods from nearby Trimontium Mines. The residents of Ham Lakes started Swift water power plants in the early 1900s for electricity production. In the 1940s, another group of Scandinavians came to Ham Lakes looking for farmland and settled there permanently. They were known as the Folsom family and they developed a large livestock operation that continues to this day. The family also built numerous homes inHam Lakes over the years. The community experienced various hardships during World War II including losing many residents to service in the military or being captured by Nazi Germany. However, through hard work, determination and support from their friends and neighbors, Ham Lakes eventually emerged as one ofMinnesota's most successful communities post-war. Today, Ham Lake is still home to many of its original settlers who are still involved in local life including grocery shopping, fishing or playing golf on their beautiful course within walking distance of their homes!

Ham Lake is a small, but important community in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. It was founded in 1881 by Norwegian immigrants who had come to the United States as laborers on the Duluth and Superior Railroad. The community grew rapidly during the early years of the 20th century and by 1960 had a population of about 950 people. Ham Lake is now a small town with a current population of about 150 people. The history of Ham Lake begins with its founding date and story. In 1881, Norwegian immigrants, many of whom were working on the Duluth and Superior Railroad, came to America from their homeland in Norway. This group included brothers Gustavus (Gustav) and Ole Olsen, both of whom worked as labourers on this project. The Olsens soon became established in American life and started an agricultural business near downtown St. Paul which they continued until their death in 1903. Their success at this business allowed them to purchase land adjacent to what is now Ham Lake for $1,000 cash plus costs associated with building roads, bridges and other infrastructure necessary for their new community. The original hamlet name was "Tennessen," meaning "the place where there are ten farms." However, because it was so close to StPaul (which then comprised only two villages), residents quickly began using the more common name "HamLake" after one of their own farmsteads located some three miles away from downtown Ham Lakesite! By 1890, however, all ten hamlets had been consolidated into one entity under the leadership of mayor John Whelan - an important decision made during that time because StPetersburg – then part of Minnesota – was experiencing rapid growth due to its growing trade connections with Canada and other parts of North America! In 1920 Drury & Company built a sawmill on site which remain operative today; at that time Ham Lakesite boasted one OF THE LARGEST SAWMILLS IN AMERICA! By 1930 there were over 50 businesses operating within our borders… including banks (!), hospitals (including Mayo Clinic!), grocery stores (eagerly awaiting Prohibition!), breweries (!), lumber yards (!), dry goods stores (!), dance halls (=!)… you get my drift?!! As American industry increased throughout World War II – resulting in countless military personnel stationed nearby –HAM LAKERSITE saw even greater growth (+). With post-war prosperity came anew interest in learning English; thus began HAM LANGUAGE SCHOOLS !!!!! And so it goes…. ever since those firstHS classes were offered back whenham lakesite consisted OF ONLY 10 STUDENTS…..and growing!! The community of Ham Lake was established on the eastern edge of what is now Minnesota, and quickly became a popular hunting and fishing spot. With its easy access to water and rich natural resources, Ham Lake remained an important part of the local economy for many years. In 1916, the town of Ham Lake was established as a result of efforts by local farmers and businessmen to Diffuse rural poverty. The community grew rapidly over the next few decades, becoming one of the most populous in southeastern Minnesota. By 1978, however,HamLake had become largely abandoned due to population decline and environmental problems. Today, only a small remnant of the village remains, consisting mostly of ruins and ghost towns dating back to early 19th century America
