Golden Valley is a small, unincorporated community in Golden Valley Township, Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1 at the 2010 census. It is located on the banks of the Clearwater River. The community was founded in 1881 by Norwegian immigrants as a farmstead and trading post on the edge of what is now Golden Valley Township. The post office was established in 1882, and remained in operation until it closed in 1957. In 1915, the town site were laid out as an incorporated village with a school and fire Department. The incorporation was revoked by the Minnesota State Legislature because there were no residents to vote for it. In 1951, goldenvalleyfc@aol.com became one of only two internet domain names registered in America at that time (the other being "www."). When Yahoo! bought America's first online service provider (AOL) in 1995, they assigned goldenvalfc@aol.com to Yahoo! Online Services Inc., which operated the website until 2001 when it reverted back to its original name - GoldenValleyFC@aol.com The town site contains several contributing buildings including a Methodist church built around 1886 and used as a social hall during prohibition; a Masonic Lodge built about 1924; and several residences from around that time including one built by Senator Julius Kahn who served from 1921-1924 According to historical records available through Google Earth or aerial mapping services such as Street View or satellite imagery, various businesses have been located within walking distance of each other over time including: grain elevator circa 1900; blacksmith shop circa 1910; grocery store circa 1935; dry goods store circa 1950s/1960s (currently known as Walmart); auto dealership since at least 1966; convenience store open since 1934 called "EagleGas"; hardware store open since 1927 called "Hometown Hardware"; restaurant opened about 1930 called "Sprint". There are also numerous gravesite location within close confines of each other dating back many years such as those of Captain James Cooks family members buried just north of Walmart across from his parents home which can be seen via aerial imagery or street view

Golden Valley was a small community in the extreme northwest corner of Minnesota, approximately 12 miles southwest of Minneapolis. The town was founded in 1881 by J.P. Mead and his wife, Esther. Golden Valley was renamed after the discovery of golden ore near the town in 1898. The ore vein turned out to be about 20 feet deep and had a value of $8 million at its peak in 1917. After World War II, golden mining stopped due to low gold prices and the depletion of resources, ending what is now considered one of the last major boomtowns in America.
