Laughlin opened his new optometry business at 604 Main Street in Golden Valley. At that time, optometrists used a variety of methods to measure vision including Snellen's chart and retinal examination techniques. Because of this methodical approach, Dr. Laughlin's business was able to provide high-quality products at a reasonable price point for his patients. During World War II, many businesses closed their doors due to rationing; however, optometry continued to thrive thanks to the war effort. Golden Valley is a small town in the United States. The population was 5,779 at the 2010 census. It is located in Hibbing County, Minnesota. The community began as a small hamlet called "Golden" on the banks of the Mississippi River. In 1881, A.M. White organized a group of farmers to purchase 640 acres (2 km2) of land east of present-day Golden Valley and name it Golden Valley after his home state of Iowa's golden wheat fields. The first settlers arrived in 1882 and built their homes on parcels that now make up Golden Valley Community Park and North Shore Drive. Over time, other communities developed around Golden Valley: Hennepin Falls in 1903, Silver Lake in 1912, Maplewood in 1921, and Eden Prairie in 1930. Today GoldenValley has a population of 5,779 residents who are affluent enough to enjoy some fine local businesses such as Applebee's and Starbucks while also providing access to some great public services like libraries and schools

Golden Valley is located in the far northcentral section of Minnesota, just outside the city of Minneapolis. The valley was created by Glaciation about 12,500 years ago when the ice sheet retreated and left behind a small peninsula which surrounded a larger body of water. Today, Golden Valley comprises a mixture of forested and agricultural land, with some villages located along the river that skirts the edge of the valley. The first people to inhabit Golden Valley were nomadic Algonquin Indians who traveled from adjacent Wisconsin to trade with the Native Americans. There are references to these early settlers in documents dating back to 1795 when Captain James Cook discovered what he thought was an uninhabited island in present-day Minnesota. After exploring for several days, Cook came ashore on Cat Island and named it after his ship’s surgeon, Dr. James Cook (1739-1823). In 1812, Gold Rush fever swept through California; many miners fled westward for safety but not before leaving behind their belongings and equipment at Fort Snelling where they were stored until ordered back east by Ulysses S Grant during his occupation of Minnesota as General Order No. 5. Upon returning to Minnesota in 1821, Grant ordered Colonel George Armstrong Custer (1831-1909) to conduct an inspection tour of all military posts in this area including Fort Snelling so that appropriate measures could be taken against Indian attacks or searches for treasure. At this time there were only two other military posts inMinnesota – One near Duluth and one at Rice Lake – both under control of American troops headquartered at Fort Snelling. During Custer’s visit, he found gold ore on Hennepin County Road 8 near Clearwater but no evidence existed indicating human habitation had ever been within range of those hills since preglacial time! In 1875 another prospector discovered gold veins further down the hill but again no ruins or human remains could be found nearby suggesting early contact between these groups was limited to trade only! Today there are over 1 million people living within easy access radius around Golden Valley including many farmers and ranchers who continue operations year round; making it one of most heavily populated areas inMinnesota! The abundance of natural resources such as timberland, coal dust pits and mineral springs have contributed greatly to its popularity as a tourist destination; also home to several resorts such as Aspen Hill Resort & Spa which straddles two valleys giving visitors plenty opportunities for hiking/ Cycling/ Fishing/ Golfing etc.,opping off for lunch or dinner can be arranged without any problems whatsoever!
The Golden Valley community was founded in 1851. The area around present-day Golden Valley was long inhabited by the Ojibwe people. A post office was established at the edge of town in 1853, and a railroad arrived in 1862. By 1865, the population of Golden Valley had grown to over 100 residents. In 1871, the first school opened in Golden Valley. The town continued to grow throughout the 1800s and into the 1900s, with a population of over 1,500 residents by 1910. Many businesses were established during this time, including a lumberyard and two cotton mills. However, World War I led to a decline in business activity in Golden Valley after many residents enlisted in military service. The town remained inactive until it resumed growth following World War II when new businesses started up again. During this time, the community developed an active local hockey team and developed its own cultural traditions such as annual summer festivals and powwows
