Fridley is a town in Saint Paul County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 5,878 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Metropolitan area. The first people to live in what is now Fridley were Norwegian settlers from Hesselin on the east coast of Norway who came in 1857 and 1858. They named their community "Fridley" after the fishing village of Friesland close by where they had been living for some time before that. In 1870, a German immigrant named Julius Flitzer bought land near Fridley and started growing crops there. In 1872, he built a mill on the river and named it Flitzer Manufacturing Company after himself and his brother-in-law Wilhelm Flitzer who also founded the company. The company manufactured flour, sugar beets, breads, candles, hats and other products until it merged with another company in 1907 to become Jardine Products Incorporated (later Allied Biscuit Corporation). A post office called Fridley was established in 1870, but it never received any mail because its residents took delivery only from Streator or Chaska townships. In 1904, the name change to Fridleysville when a new post office was built about three miles west of town on Upper Sioux Road (now Dakota Avenue). Fridley's first school opened in 1871 as an academy under charge of Mrs. Anna Rasmussen with five students in each class plus one teacher per grade level; however this school did not stay open very long because financial difficulties forced Mrs Rasmussen to sell her property back to parents within two years. A second school building was erected soon afterwards but again this school closed due to lack of pupils/ finances which led to a popular demand from farmers for more education opportunities for their children so that they could enter farming families early instead of becoming agricultural workers themselves like many rural Minnesotans did then. Finally on October 14th 1915 Fridley had its third school when Miss Gertrude Kapp organized and taught 8th grade girls from nearby White Cloud Township about handcrafting using found materials such as glass beads, buttons and brooches she collected during field trips around her neighborhood while working at her grandmother's farmstead just north of town during summer session 1915-16; this new high school served as both primary and secondary School until torn down by tornado damage in 1996 which disrupted local educational services for many years thereafter leaving much uninstituted rustling behind among these old buildings currently used as storage sheds by several businesses including Albertson’s grocery store located just across Dakota Ave from where I once worked cleaning up inside one day after an inadvertent spillage happened inside when someone trying to clean up spilled ketchup all over my white scrub pants!

Fridley is a small town located in Ramsey County, Minnesota. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is the home of the Fridley Historical Museum and Park. The town was founded in 1881 by Norwegian immigrants who had come to America searching for a better life. The first settler, Jonas Larsen, built a log cabin on the banks of the Mississippi River. In 1882, Larsen's son-in-law, Peter Olson, started a small grocery store in Fridley and named it Olsen's Store. When Fridley became a village in 1887, Olson moved his store to what is now First National Bank Building and added an upper story to house his business until 1893 when he sold his land to Julius Weyerhaeuser for $10 per acre. This land was used as farmland until 1902 when it was donated to present day Ramsey County by businessman John W. Lewisohn for use as parkland. Weyerhaeuser hired architect George Moller to design the initial structure of what would become known as "The Town Hall" which opened its doors on April 20th, 1907. The Town Hall building has been changed several times over its history but has always retained some of its original features including an octagonshaped floor plan with an attached basement that can be reached via stairs that lead up from the main hall level.. The Town Hall also served as the administrative center ofFridley until 1915 when it was replaced by what is now called "The Old Post Office". In 1936, Fridley voters approved funds to build their own high school which opened in 1938 under instruction from then Superintendent of Schools Arlene Ainge Peterson.. Today The High School offers grades Pre-K through 12th grade along with vocational training programs for students in grades 9-12.. In 1966 local resident Floyd Riedel donated woodchuck eggs which are now hatchery products available at select stores throughout Minnesota
Fridley was founded in 1857 by George Fridley and his wife Emma. The town was named after the Fridleys' farm, which they bought in 1855. The town started out as a small farming community with around seventy residents. By 1870, Fridley had grown to over one thousand residents and had developed into a small city. In 1913, Fridley became the first city in Minnesota to have a electric streetlight system.
