In response to this new technology, many manufacturers began producing firearms with detachable magazines that could be reloaded multiple times. By 1790,gunners had figured out how to adjust their cannons so that they could fire using both left-handed and right-handed shooters alike. By 1800, however, many European countries had switched over to muzzleloader rifles and shotguns rather than handgun arms due to advances in muskets and cannons that had been made since then. The name of the town is derived from Swedish farmers who settled here in 1853 and named it Fridlevik after their father's farm in Västerås. The first post office was established here on July 1, 1854. The present-day town was organized when parts of Lyndale were annexed into Fridley in 1912 along with other villages within Ramsey County during countywide consolidation efforts under Gov. Nelson Alderink's administration. Prior to this time most residents lived in rural areas outside of what would become Fridley limits; however annexation created many opportunities for development within its boundaries which continue today with some 9 shopping malls located within its limits dating back to 1978 as well as over 100 businesses scattered throughout its neighborhoods including most notably Target and Sam's Club locations

However, this method required strength in both hands which limited its use for smallweapons or handguns. This method was especially useful when using pistols that did not have stocks or barrels that protruded above the handguard. Finally, the visa versa four-wayswivel was invented by Hungarian inventor László Biro in 1892 and became popular among European shooters after being adopted by Germany in 1896. There are numerous references to the use of swivels on firearms in both ancient and modern times. A few examples include: The Iliad, Book IX, lines 426-433: "And they turned their weapons around so that they could shoot straight. And Hector's arrows went into the thigh of Achilles." The Odyssey, Book VII, line 579: "Achilles answered him and said, 'My lord Troilus, you have not been fair to me with your words; now put an end to this talk.'" "So he turned his weapon about so that it could shoot straight," etc.
Fridley was founded in 1857 by developers John W. Fridley and his brother, James A. Fridley. The town was named after General Andrew Jackson, who fought in the Mexican-American War and helped found St. Paul in 1836. In 1870, the town had a population of about 150 people and became a farming community with close ties to Milwaukee County. TheFridleys were instrumental in helping start the Minneapolis–St. Paul Railroad and helped develop one of the most important markets in Minnesota – downtown Minneapolis – which they owned and operated until their death in 1926. They also donated land to establish Hennepin Park, which still functions as a public park today. In 1951, they were inducted into the Minnesota State Legislature as members of the first class of entrepreneurs honored by that state’s Pioneer Award program recognizing early businesspeople from across the Twin Cities region who have made significant contributions to their communities or counties. Today, Fridley is an vibrant community filled with businesses, churches and schools; it is known for its apple orchards, golf courses and popular summer festivals including Apple Festival (the largest event on the calendar), Horse Fair (the second largest event on the calendar) and Christmasfest/Fridley Bluegrass Fest (the biggest festival).
