Fridley is a small town in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,567 at the 2010 census. It is located on the edge of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area and is served by the Fridley School District. The town was founded in 1871 by Norwegian immigrants as an agricultural community on a farmstead near what is now Hennepin Avenue and Snelling Road. In 1902, Fridley became a city and its original downtown – built around a five-block square – remains popular today for its characteristic redbrick buildings dating from that time. Fridley's name comes from Danish farmer Ole Rasmussen's donation of land to the city in 1872 for municipal purposes; Rasmusen Drive runs through town today. In 1925, Fridley established itself as an arts center with the construction of its first building (now called the Municipal Building) on Main Street; it has since been home to many cultural organizations including The Minnesota Orchestra, The Stages Company Theatre and The Guthrie Theater Company. In 1954, when Minneapolis-St. Paul annexed Rahway Township to become their new municipality, Fridley became part of that municipality too - until it again reverted back to its rural status in 1973 when Ramsey County was created. Today, much like his namesake region northwest of Copenhagen where he came from – Fjords National Park offers stunning landscapes abounding with glaciers and towering peaks while also boasting some world heritage sites including Heimskringla carved into the cliffs northeast of town – there are few places quite like rural Ramsey County full of rolling farmland dotted with lakes and pristine forests which offer easy access to fishing or hiking trails as well as plenty of restaurants and businesses that serve up some greatMinnesota food traditions such asFarmtoTable produce or wild game dishes made fresh on site using local ingredients such asDalmatian heartfillets or venison tenderloin brought down from outlying farms during hunting season.–the list goes on! While this may be primarily agriculturally based tourism these days due to advances in technology both big box stores (Macy's etc.) have closed down here over recent years making way for more independent retailers which often carry unique items not found elsewhere outside urban areas.–thus another link between old world charm combined with cutting edge technologies giving this area something truly unique
