The closure of Interstate 94 led to a decline in visitation for both locals and visitors who took their business elsewhere; however, there has been some resurgence over recent years due to new development around town center including a large brewery called One World Brewery and two restaurants - SoDo WellBakery & Brewery and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Company - as well as several small businesses such as Goodwill Sam’s Club and Local 8th Grade League football team which fields games at Memorial Stadium on Main Street near where I-94 used to run concurrent with golfing tournaments hosted at nearby Timberline Resort.

In 1915, ForestLake became one of only two towns within fifteen miles of both cities; this allowed for easy access to goods that could not be found anywhere else in America. This development also led to increased business activity throughout the town and helped it reach its peak population size in 1923. However, despite this growth, ForestLake experienced some difficulty during World War II because so many people were drafted into military service that there was not enough room for them all in one place! Forest Lake is a small town in Douglas County, Minnesota. The population was 1,690 at the 2010 census. It is located on the south side of Forest Lake Boulevard. The first settler in what is now Forest Lake was David Haggerty, who arrived in 1851. He and his family were the first settlers to live in what is now Forest Lake Township. In 1859, J.P. Dawson bought 640 acres (250 hectares) of land from David Haggerty for $5 per acre ($26 total). Dawson named the land "Forest Lake" after his father-in-law's estate near Montreal, Canada. A post office called Forest Lakes was established at this location in 1863, and remained in operation until it closed in 1907. In 1898, a group of businessmen led by John Wislovich built a sawmill on the east shore of Forest Lake for lumber production. The mill continued operation until it closed in 1955. The mill played an important role in early forest development around ForestLake because it allowed farmers to harvest wood for their homes without having to journey far into the woods to get it. The community began growing rapidly due to its location close to Interstate 35 and other transportation options; by 2001, there were over 1,000 people living within 5 miles (8 km) of ForestLake township boundaries! By 2006, almost all residents had moved away or left for more rural locations within Douglas County since there wasn't enough commercial growth available outside of town limits: only two businesses still existed within 5 miles (8 km) of town limits as of 2006 despite numerous offers for property purchases from new residents over that period! Today, few people remain within 5 miles (8 km) of ForrestLake; most residents are located further away due to dwindling commercial opportunities and rising costs associated with commuting into town each day Massachusetts Avenue provides excellent views looking northwest towards downtown Minneapolis while direct access upstate through scenic routes such as MN 29W provide excellent access also allowing exploration along these roads into different parts of adjacent counties including Douglas
