However local prohibition repealed following repeal of prohibition throughout most of America In 1925 construction began on what would become State Street which ran through downtown from First Avenue south to Seventh Street east and served as Mayor Jules Condon’s coronavirus quarantine station during World War II when much of eastern North America was under occupation by Japan . The street name Reflecting Canada’s international stature helped increase tourism arrivals from neighbouring countries resulting in $2 million economic impact each year Thanks largely to US Congressional allocation for highway maintenance – less than 1% for all communities within Metropolitan St Paul area during that time period! Fergus Falls is a city in the U.S. state of Minnesota and the county seat of Hennepin County. It is located on the banks of the Missouri River, about 20 miles (32 km) north of Minneapolis and 50 miles (80 km) south of St. Paul. The population was 54,711 as of 2018, making it one of the most populous cities in Minnesota.[1] The first permanent settlers in what would become Fergus Falls arrived in 1854, when James McKay and his family built a log cabin on an island in the river. In 1855, McKay's brother-in-law erected a small frame house at present day Mainstreet and West Street. The town began to form from these early settlements around 1857, when Alexander McKenzie donated land to support a trading post that he had founded on Treaty Lake.[2][3] In 1861, Andreas Nordstrom purchased property near where Main Street now stands for $60 worth of goods including flour and potatoes from Indian traders who had been living there for years before that. He named his new settlement Fergus Falls after his father-in-law's farmhouse near present day Northdale Boulevard and Seventh Avenue in Canada City, Manitoba. That year also saw another early settler arrive – John Ahern with 6 oxen – who plowed up what is now State Highway 7 between Maple Grove Road east to downtown Fergus Falls[4] while supplies were brought overland via horseback or boat from Canada City through what are now Lyndale Avenue and Park Drive east to downtown Minneapolis. This route became known as "Hennepin County Road 7" during its time as part of old MN State highway number 26.[5][6] In 1865,[7] Jens Christensen homesteaded land along current Main Street just west of South Third Street; this site became known as Christensen Heights today[8]. By 1870,[9], there were already over 100 people living in Fergus Falls;[10] by 1880,[11] it had reached 500 residents![12][13],[14]) By 1902,[15], it was reported that “Fergus” being spoken here “wasn’t English but Scandinavian because many Swedes came down from Norway [to live here], bringing their dialects with them”[16].
