Gun targets have been a part of the history of Fairmont, Minnesota for many years. The first target was located on the west side of town in 1887. The next target was located on Elm Street in 1915. The current location is on Main Street in Fairmont. The first gun target in Fairmont was built by Wm. Hargrave and Sons. It was a white metal target with a green cloth “bunny” to represent the American Rifleman magazine cover from 1892-1893. The first rifle range in Fairmont opened its doors in 1911, and it became known as the “Green Gables Shooting Range” because it used to be located at Green Gables Avenue and North First Street. From 1912-1914, theFairmount Rifle Range was also home to the World's Columbian Exposition and its firearm displays were widely seen throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin! In 1924, two new targets were added to the arsenal: a 20-foot bullseye and 25-foot steel silhouettes! These new targets allowed fairgoers across area to compete against each otherchaoticly! In 1937, another addition to our arsenal: A ten-by-ten inch steel plate that could be fired off an elevated stand! This new machine made it possible for people of all ages (and skill levels) to take part in shooting competitions at our range! It wasn't until 1984 that we started using gas guns at our range!!! With today's technology we are able to put more rounds through these weapons than ever before!!! We are excited about this newest addition as it will add even more excitement into ourrange!!

The Fairmont Rifle and Pistol Club has been meeting in the town of Fairmont, Minnesota since 1894. The club is based on the principles of NRA simplicity, shooting accuracy, fun and fellowship. TheFairmont Rifle & Pistol Club offers three types of membership- Non-residents (Residents are citizens or permanent residents who have resided in Fairmont for at least six months), members (individuals who are registered with the club) and exhibitors (all individuals who participate in club activities).
Fairmont is a small town in Minnesota, located about 20 miles northeast of Minneapolis. The population was 1,842 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat and largest city of Ramsey County. The first Europeans to visit what is now Fairmont were fur traders from Quebec in the early 1800s. In 1853, Surveyor General John A. Macdonald named Fairmont after his friend Sir George Fairchild, secretary to the imperial government of Canada. At that time there were only a few hundred people living in what became Fairmont. By 1870, however, the population had grown to over 2,000 and it continued to grow until 1900 when it reached its current size of 1,842 residents. Fairmont began as a farming community with many cattle and horse ranching operations being established here during the early days of this area’s development. Today some notable businesses in town include: Griggs Ford Automotive dealership (since 1984), Northrop Grumman (from 1945 until its sale in 1997), Apple Inc., Target Corporation (from 1970 until 2001), First United Methodist Church (founded 1906) and Blythewood Nursery & Farm Store which still operates today as an independently owned business serving local farmers since 1915!

After the war, many businesses continued to thrive within Fairmont's boundaries while other aspects of local life began to change such as growing number of students attending nearby University of Minnesota schools which led to declines in manufacturing jobs that once relied onFairmondevelopment income. However, by 2000, despite some challenges faced by local businesses due to changing industry trends,Fairmountganow is home to more than 1,,000 people who enjoy its unique cultural attractions including music festivals and art exhibitions throughout the year
Fairs and carnivals were a common occurrence in the town of Fairmont during the late 1800s. The town was founded in 1854 by wagon drivers who came to trade goods with the Dakota Sioux. The first fair was held in October, and it featured demonstrations of skills such as farming, carpentry, and manufacturing. In 1876, Fairmont hosted its first rodeo event. It also became popular for agricultural shows and other events. In 1908, Fairmont began hosting its own annual golf tournament.
