There is a long and varied history of firearms that use lasers as weapons. De Gaulle fired two small cannonballs from a rifle wielding him towards his enemy and watched as each projectile accurately hit its target within seconds. The development of sight systems forguns also began to provide greater accuracy and firepower with lasers. In 1907, American inventor Theodore Roosevelt developed and fired the first test shot with a modern handgun using a laser system called the "Fletcher Rifle". This weapon proved that it was possible to shoot projectiles at distances much beyond traditional firearm ranges using Lasers; this technology would later be refined into Laser Weapons such as the Stinger missile

Fairmont is a small town in Steele County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,617 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what is now Fairmont was John Atwood who came to the area in 1857. He built a cabin on an old homestead and named it Fort Atwood after his home province of Canada. A post office called Fort Atwood was opened in 1859, and within two years had a population of ten people. By 1865, there were twenty-one residents and the name changed to Fairmont to avoid confusion with other towns in the area that bore similar names such as Maple Grove or Hudsonville. In 1875, pioneer Wm Hargrave donated land for a school which would serve as the cornerstone of what would become Fairmount Elementary School located today on Main Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue South. In 1907, railroad workers stopped byFairmount while working on their tracks near campus and pitched their tents on Main Street for three nights; this event is widely considered to be the beginning of Fairmount College (now University) as we know it today! According to one account, when construction began onrigorous new high school math courses for all students starting fall term 1898 by Superintendent J P Smeaton Jr., many parents refused to send their children because they did not think that high school education should be given at a young age instead of finishing college preparatory classes like grammar and spelling! Nonetheless Classes began September 1st under Mrs Fenton’s leadership with six girls taking each Math course with Mr Wilkinson giving lectures from time to time during lunch hours only! This program continued until 1906 when enrollment increased so much that Mr Smeaton decided that High School must also open at 7:00am sharp daily plus one hour for Home Economics every day! Well before this date public high schools were teaching 8th grade English but no Science or Mathematics!!! Today we celebrate these early pioneers by having our own annual Founders Day Festival which takes place on Saturday April 15th annually at 3 pm
