The city was founded on May 6, 1854 by John Smeaton and his brother James Smeaton as a small settlement on the edge of what is now downtown Eden Prairie. It grew rapidly as a result of its location near transportation hubs such as Saint Anthony Falls (via the First National Bank Trail) and Lake Minnetonka (and its proximity to grain fields). In 1872, the town became one of five townships in Hennepin County; it remained an agricultural community until after World War II when manufacturing took over and Eden Prairie became a major center for light industry. After decades of decline in manufacturing activity, Eden Prairie regained some post-industrial prosperity through its strategic location within easy reach of urban shopping malls and highway exits that made it an attractive place to live and work. Since 2000, though, rapid gentrification has caused many Eden Putters to flee for other parts of Minnesota or outlast their careers in Eden Prairie altogether – although there remain sizable pockets of natives who continue to call the city home despite this recent trend. The history of Eden Prairie begins with John Smeaton and his brother James Smeaton who came from England to start a new life in America on May 6th1854 when they landed at Rock Island Ferry landing on the Mississippi River just east side today's downtown Eden Prairie . They were among 350 settlers who formed what would become known as "The Pioneer Boys" group which left England bearing nothing but faith that they could make something new here – something that would be based off agriculture not manufactures! This group arrived with dreams down deep inside their hearts knowing that this land was meant for them because it had always been spoken about by Indians since time immemorial! And so began what would be one of America's most powerful farming families - The Smeatons!!! Not only did these two brothers entrepreneurship turn what started out as a small farm into one thousand acres(grazing land)of farmland by 1850s when they married Euphemia Garrity; they also were instrumental in helping pioneer railroads come through town & bring wealth & commerce right into town (!), paving way for all those nice buildings we see today like St Anthony Falls Casino ground level today (& 2 blocks south!), etc….. so much so that even our current Mayor Pro Tem once referred to himself back then as "the father Of Downtown!" As Cedar Rapids exploded onto the scene throughout Midwest during 1800s becoming simultaneously one OF THE LARGEST cities IN AMERICA while also becoming known for being "the Sodomites'Town", so too did Eden Preece grow rapidly during this time period becoming BY FAR MINNESOTA'S SLIGHTEST CITY WHILE ALSO BEING KNOWN FOR ITS TYPICAL MINNESOTA GOVERNMENTALISM…just kidding 🙂 But before we get ahead OF ourselves lets take a look back at some key facts about both Cedar Rapids & Green Bay which helped spur these businesses/locations along: first off Cedar Rapids boasts OVER 60 YEARS OF A RECORD LOWinexpansion Rate whilealso having ONE OF THE LONGEST DOWNTIME TIMES IN AMERICAN CIVIL WAR ERA!!!!! NOT TO MENTION THAT THEIR FIRST BUSINESS WAS USED TO BUY CATTLE FROM SKI MASTER!!& SO ON…..SO HOW DID DESPERATE BEGINNING FAMILY FOUNDATION CALL THEIR HOME?By 1919 AD when JOHN AND JAMES SOLD ALL THEY OWNED ABOUT THEM PLUS ALL THEIR LAND TO HERMAN WOODSON FOR $3M!!!!??!)?! So you can imagine how well off these guys felt knowing they were able to build everything we know today including our iconic Vikings Stadium!& AGAIN……..these are just SOME FACTS…………….let's move forward nowshall we? 🙂 When John & James inherited their family farm from their father there were only 404 people living in central MN (Hennepin Co.) !!! That means if you lived anywhere else then central MN your odds are pretty good you didn't inherit anything!!!!!!!!!!!!! We really should start calling this place "Eden Preece." Anyway back up story……….John & James decided early on this land would be their forever home due to all those things mentioned earlier like our record low expansion rate (!), long downtime during American Civil War era (& spotless record against any other westernMinnesota city!), etc…..so they bought 640 acres west side Saint Anthony Falls Rd from Nathan Lyon For $2M dollars BACK THEN!!!!! Now if I may I ask why exactly did John chooseSaint Anthony Falls Rd instead of more popular routes like Maple Avenue or Elkader Road???? Because Saint Anthony Falls Rd goes directly INTO CENTRAL MUNDIAL LAKES whereupon you have access To REALLY GOOD CRUISING AREAS RIGHT HERE East Of The falls!!!!!!??? Why do I have such strong feelings about this particular location ??? let me think about it…………….

The regulations following this amendment focused on keeping firearms away from children and drunkards. Since then, many accidents have occurred while people were trying to use firearms, resulting in injuries or fatalities. In 1996, Timothy McVeigh shot and killed six people at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds before detonating an explosives-laden Ryder truck killing more than 160 people and wounding over 800 others

The city was founded by Danish immigrants in 1854 as a small farm town called Nissenerville on a tract of land that had been granted to them by Governor Ramsey for their agricultural work on the river Frontenac Preserve. The name Nissenerville derived from two words meaning "east" and "village." In 1885, when Eden Prairie became a municipality, it adopted its present name based upon its location on the east side of the river between downtown Minneapolis and lake Minnetonka. Eden Prairie has experienced many surges in population over the years; however, it has not seen as low an unemployment rate as other Twin Cities municipalities such as Stouffville or Maplewood since World Fair Park opened up new jobs throughout Eden Prairie during this time period (1993-2003). Mayor John Carey attributes this to having good public transportation which allows people easy access to jobs all around town without having to drive far away each day like some other towns in Minnesota do. Also important are Eden Prairie's job centers which offer excellent opportunities for employment and continue to grow even during tough economic times thanks to expansions into new businesses such as technology companies and health care services firms. Today, Eden Prairie is home to many high-tech firms including Apple Inc., Amazon Web Services, Google parent company Alphabet Inc., Microsoft Corp., Facebook LLC., Twitter Inc., NEC Corporation and several others who have brought much needed prosperity to our community over the years while also creating countless jobs across various industries including manufacturing, retailing/the food service sector etcetera etcetera... This community continues its growth with plans underway for yet another major expansion adjacent to CenturyLink Field just west of downtown known as “2X” which will house even more businesses with over 1 million square feet within walking distance!
