Eden Prairie, Minnesota is one of the oldest towns in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1854 by Norwegian immigrants and has grown since then to become a cultural and commercial center for the region. The town’s history can be traced back to a time when handguns were not commonly used in everyday life and people relied on spears, bows and arrows, or rifles to protect themselves from danger. In 1858, pioneer Isaac Nye decided to settler his land in what is now Eden Prairie after purchasing it from the Dakota Sioux tribe. He named his new settlement “Eden Prairie” in honor of biblical Eden, where humans first began their journey onto this earth. In 1875, the town experienced its first economic boom thanks to a lumber industry that had started up nearby. The industry attracted workers from all over Minnesota as well as Wisconsin and Illinois. Over time, however, the lumber industry started to decline due to competition from other industries such as farming and manufacturing. In 1916, Eden Prairie became home to the world’s first handgun factory when entrepreneur Jens Jensen founded the National Firearms Manufacturing Company. At its peak production level, NFMC employed over 1,500 workers! However, during World War IINFC produced weapons for both Nazi Germany and Japan in order to help support allied forces – an event that is still commemorated today by NFMC’s adaptive logo which features two swastikas superimposed on a gun barrel (a symbol of friendship between Nazi Germany and Japan). In recent years, Eden Prairie has seen some growth due to its position as an important hub for education within metro Minneapolis/St Paul region. This has led to increased business activity around downtown including restaurants and stores along with new housing developments catering specifically towards students interested in studying at Metro State University or elsewhere within the greater Twin Cities area. Overall, though there are some challenges facing Eden Prairie – like growing population density coupled with limited space – it remains one of Minneapolis/St Paul’s most vibrant communities with roots dating back more than 180 years!

Eden Prairie is a town in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,829 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis–St. Paul metropolitan area. Eden Prairie was founded in 1868 as a post office and agricultural community on the east side of Rice Lake. The name "Eden" came from an early settler's farmstead near present-day Eden Prairie. The Town of Eden Prairie was established in 1868 by land grant to John J. Walsh and others from Canada who had come to America during the American Civil War to escape slavery. In 1870, the first school built in town wasMethodist; it opened with twelve students and three teachers. A second school building was completed in 1872 and became known as the "Homespun House." In 1905, Minnehaha Electric Railway Company bought land for a line between Minneapolis and St Cloud; construction began that year and service began on July 8, 1906. In 1912, Eden Prairie Station served as the eastern terminus of North Line Streetcar Service which ran south from downtown Minneapolis along North Line until it reachsthe junction with South Line at Hennepin Avenue West (now Lyndale Avenue West). On December 4th 1916, Empire Builder #1 locomotive No 5556 hauled by Wabash Railroad Company's 714 Express collided with a truck while crossing Cedar Rapids Road just east of Main Street in Eden Park Township; both engines were destroyed within minutes after impact so no one was injured although it caused extensive damage to vehicles involved including two derailments resulting in damaging four bridges over Cedar River immediately upstream from where they happened: this event helped spur development of Cedar Rapids as an industrial center following World War I when heavy demand for war goods resulted in increased production throughout Minnesota
