Eagan is a town in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,611 at the 2010 census. Eagan was founded by Norwegian immigrants in 1854 as an agricultural community on the east bank of the river Aasen. The name "Eagan" means "settlement on Eagan's Ford." That same year saw the construction of one of America's largest steel mills - what would become Minnesota Steel Corporation - within town limits and helped spur development in adjacent areas such as North Egan and South Egan.. In 1990–1991 (the final year for which municipal records are extant), Mayor John Freytried led an initiative known as "The Greening Project" to promote conservation and renewable energy within the city limits through home ownership/land usage programs and public education campaigns targeting both children and adults alike about creating green roofs or solar panels on their homes; this effort resulted in saving over $2 million from energy bills during that four-year period alone.. On October 13th 2006 after years deliberation City Council voted unanimously to annex Stinsonville into City Limits effective December 1st 2006 making Eagan equal in size to but not including Stinsonville’s water system

Eager to continue its success story following reappraisal by Heritage Conservation District (HCD), recent mayor Donny Snyder announced plans for redevelopment of all nearby properties including 3historic buildings on Main Street - which have been vacant since 1978 – into mixed-use retail/office space with access into existing homes within walking distance or bike ride from current site" . Plans call for demolition or renovation of 2 storefronts at 102nd &Main Streets NE currently used as storage units; replacement of 4 water tank tanks on W Main Street SW; installation of solar panels on rooflines across 2 buildings along SE corner lot zoned RM2A+…. Eagan is a town in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,878 at the 2010 census. The name is derived from the Dakota word ea (water), which means "place of water" in Sioux and other languages. Eagan was platted in 1857 by James Egan, a settler from Illinois. The first post office in the town was established in 1858. In 1869, the town became part of Minneapolis and had its first school that year. In 1887, Eagan railway station opened on the line between Minneapolis and St Paul and served as a stop for passengers travelling to Eagan's smelters on Lake Superior. In 1912, the towns of Brooklyn Park (west of Hennepin) and Owatonna were consolidated into Eagan; Brooklyn Park remained an independent municipality until it joined Minneapolis-St Pauline School District No. 2 in 1966. In 1968, Minneapolis-Hennepin County annexed Brooklyn Park; Owatonna became an independent municipality again until it rejoined city government in 1998 when it formed part of new St Paul City Government area created by merging municipalities within Hennepin County with powers granted to each municipality under state law governing consolidation and annexation proceedings. The current elementary school building was built in 1916 as a Sears store annexe on Elmwood Avenue Northeast near Airport Boulevard Northeast; it closed down as a Sears store around 1984 but has been used for food storage ever since despite never being occupied for retail purposes again According to local legend, author Margaret Atwood wrote "Catcher In The Rye" while working at her grandmother's house during World War II because she could not find any bookshelves to hide her work material inside; after her grandmother died Atwood moved all her materials into one room so she could continue writing even though she no longer had access to natural light
