Cloquet is a small town in the Le Sueur County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 590 at the 2000 census. Cloquet is located on the banks of the St. Croix River just east of Cloquet Dam. The first gun store in Cloquet was opened in 1892 by Prentice and Wills. In 1916, A & H Ammunition Company opened a store here as well and still does business today. Cloquet has had several other businesses open here over the years including an electrician, a dentist, and even a pharmacy before coming to be known as "The Gun Shop of Cloquet." Cloquet's history with firearms can be traced back to 1892 when Prentice and Wills opened their first gun store in this small town. This store would become one of the most successful in town with its large selection of firearms and knowledgeable staff who were able to help customers find whatever they were looking for. For many years this store was run by Mr. and Mrs. Prentice along with their son Amos Prentice Jr., who helped take care of the shop until his death in 1971 age 96 years old. After Amos' death, his wife continued running the shop until her own death in 1987 at 103 years old leaving it completely run by children later that year! In 1916 A & H Ammunition Companyopened a store here as well which would continue to do business until it closed its doors in 1984 due to budget cuts within corporate America! cloquet's only other business that operated during that time period was an electrician which also closed its doors thanks to budgetary restrictions! Since then, Claxton has always been home to one of Minnesota's largest firearm stores where customers from all walks of life can come into contact with firearms for sale or repair! This includes both local residents who live close enough for shopping convenience as well as tourists from all over who are drawn to this beautiful little town because it offers such an interesting history with guns!

In 1872, Cloquet became a city and remained so until 1959 when it merged with other nearby cities to form Duluth-Moline-Chicago MSA. The Cloquet Historic District encompasses buildings dating from the 1860s through 1920s and includes examples of Victorian architecture,idempotryal farmhouses, commercial buildings, anduela (a type of cornmeal cake). Today, Cloquet remains an agricultural community with many large family farms that produce crops such as corn, soybeans, wheat, oats and barley; hogs; dairy products; and woolens. There are also several downtown businesses including a library and many small shops serving local residents

Cloquet was founded by Norwegian immigrants in 1858 and named for the Danish city of Copenhagen. The first post office was established in Cloquet on November 3, 1858. The Cloquet Grain Elevator was built in 1904 and became operational on October 4, 1904. It transported grain from farms to local mills until it closed its doors in 1984. The Cloquet Arena opened on December 12, 1990 and served as the home court of the Minnesota Timberwolves from 1991 to 2017. The arena is now used as a community center. In 2006, Cloquet voters passed a resolution recognizing July 3rd as "Minnesota's National History Day".
