The district also includes two churches: Saint Anthony's Episcopal Church (1827), which is locally significant for its Gothic Revival style Architecture, and United Methodist Church (1909). The latter building has been restored and now serves as a museum open to the public during regular hours on Sundays from 9am to 3pm.. Cloquet was a small town in Minnesota from 1854-1964. Cloquet was first established as an Indian trading post in 1854 by the Menominee tribe. The post was renamed Cloquet in 1862 after Major General James Mclntyre, who had commanded the Army of the Mississippi during the American Civil War. The town grew rapidly and by 1865 it had a population of 190 people. In 1884, Cloquet became a city and remained so until 1964 when it reverted to its rural status.
