That same year, the Minneapolis-St. Paul Masons Lodge No. 5 established a rifle range within the city limits; this allowed citizens of Chaska access to firearms for personal protection and hunting purposes. By 1907, ammunition manufacturing had relocated from Chaska to Edina,Minnesota due to updated technologies and less restrictive gun laws in that state. The industry continued expanding through World War I and into World War II; during that time period, Chaska became one of the leading producers of artillery ammunition for both sides of the conflict. During postwar years (1948-1975), ammunition production centered around two companies: Armoury Ammunition Corporation (later called North American Arms) and Midway Ammunition Company (now known as CCI). In 1975, Midway Ammunition Company merged with Armoury Corporation to form North American Arms Inc.; however, Midway still produces munitions under its own name today.

Chaska, Minnesota is a small town in the state of Minnesota. The population was 772 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name Chaska comes from the Dakota language and means "place where there are no trees." The first settler in Chaska was George Hofer, who arrived in 1854. In 1902, Chaska had a post office and one school. In 1905, it became a city and had two hospitals and three police departments. In 1959, Chaska became an incorporated village with its own government and schools. In that year, it also had its first water plant and sewer system. The city limits eventually extended to encompass all of rural Chaska as well as some parts of Strom Thurston County east of Interstate 94. In 1992, when Chaska annexed most of Thurston County, it lost its independent government but regained both its post office (now called Hennepin) and school district (now called Park Rapids). A number of businesses have been located in or around Chaska over the years: Pioneer Hi-Fi Music Store; Biltmore Homes; White Sands Casino Resort; Moose Jaw Resort & Spa; Northrop Grumman Corporation's Scaled Composites Facility; Ponce de Leon National Wildlife Refuge; OnStar Inc.'s Verizon Wireless Headquarters Campus south on Interstate 94 near Highway 518/Moses Lake Road;; DWM International's weight room on Lyndale Avenue within walking distance to many homes.; Dodge Ram dealership on Main Street across from Rivermed HealthCare System.; Sears Holdings' Domino's Pizza Delivery service campus adjacent to MPRD building., which has since closed down.; Landmark Broadcasting Company's KSHB-TV 4 News broadcasting center near the intersection of Lyndale Avenue South and State Street.(Chaska now has only one high school.)

The community was founded in 1871 as a farming village on the east side of the Mississippi River near present day Hastings. In 1916, it became a city and remains so today. Chaska has been home to several Native American tribes and their settlements, most notably the Ojibwe Tribe and their Kasanka settlement on what is now Chaska Boulevard. The first white settlers arrived in 1872, fleeing an Indian attack near Hastings. They built log cabins and hunted buffalo for food and hides from 1876 until 1880 when they abandoned the area due to bad weather conditions. In 1916, Chaska became a city after being approved by referendum by its citizens vote with 97% in support according to City Hall documentation. At that time it had a population of just 569 residents, but over time grew rapidly through annexation of nearby villages including Hastings (1921), Maple Grove (1924), Forest Lake (1945), Wayzata (1963) and current day Chaska (1993).
