Burnsville is a city in Minnesota, United States. The population was 30,812 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Ramsey County. Burnsville is one of the largest cities in Ramsey County and its metropolitan area has a population of over 100,000 people. The first settler in what is now Burnsville was John Akeley who arrived during the 1824–25 period. He named his land "Mound Lake." In 1836, Nathaniel Beal moved to what became Burnsville from Otter Tail County, Minnesota and built a cabin on the present day Bank Street which he called "Beal's Place." Over time several other settlers followed Beal to within a few miles of where he had built his home. In 1838, Elijah Dowling came to what became Burnsville from Rice County, Minnesota and started an agricultural farm near present day First Avenue and State Road 806. On December 15th of that year, Dowling erected a log cabin on the east side ofills (now Banks Drive) just south of present day First Avenue between Maple Creek and Ironwood Creek. From this location he began selling goods brought overland by wagon train travelers through his farm gate onto the Trans-Mississippi Canal which then connected with Detroit via Stroudsburg Landing in Pennsylvania. This early business venture led to Dowling becoming one of the most successful farmers in town until his death in 1875 at age 78 years old. In 1840 general store proprietor Amos Carlson opened up shop on Main Street southwest of today's bankside parking lot across from Waffle House restaurant/bar which still stands today as part of downtown Burnsville shopping districtToday’s bankside lot served as Community Bank until it merged with Allied Bancorp (Aurora) in 1984 . On November 6th 1840 basis doubleheader game between @ Minneapolis Millers & @ St Paul Saints was played at TCF Park making it first professional baseball game played outside US soil Burnsville also saw its share of football games throughout those years including a 2nd round matchup against rival Duluth Decaturians on October 3rd 1888 that ended 0-0 tie thanks largely to goals by future NFL Hall Of Famer end Willis McGahee

Burnsville is a town in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 5,362 at the 2010 census. The name of the town comes from a settler named John Burns who homesteaded there in 1854. The first post office was established here in 1856. Burnsville is located on the eastern edge of Ramsey County and is bordered to the north by Hubbard City, to the east by Clyde and Maplewood, to the south by Hastings and Wadena, and to the west by Winnipeg. The townsite of what is now Burnsville was laid out by Captain John Burnett in 1853 as part of a land grant he received from Ulysses S. Grant for his services during the Mexican-American War. Burnett had accompany General Zachary Taylor on his ill-fated expedition against Mexico in 1846. In addition to his land grant, Burnett also received 2200 acres (100 km2) of forest near present-day Rochester Hills for himself and his family. A post office called White Earth Crossing was established here in 1857; it later became part of nearby Minneapolis. When Minneapolis seceded from Minnesota Territory in 1862, White Earth Crossing became its own city under its own government; however, it continued to use Burnett's name until 1870 when it changed to Burnsville after John Fenton Burns Sr., one of its original settlers. In 1865,burnsville incorporated as a village; this occurred concurrent with another major change within Ramsey County: about two thirds of all residents were now required to become citizens or subjection to township ordinance rather than just landowners or farmers because increased transportation costs had caused many farms eitherto close or be sold off Asylum Road). According as village charter dated November 15th 1865: "The following persons are elected trustees for said village:Messrs Jno Everson Mrs A Stephenson Rev James Breslin". They held their positions until January 1st 1898 when they were replaced by Mr & Mrs John Fenton Burns Jr.. Father Jameson built St Joseph Catholic Church which still stands today on Hudson Avenue just southeast of town line with Manitoba Drive/Old Hwy 38 across Manitoba Park Rd.. He also farmed three acres (1 km²) northeast of today's downtown that included what is now Pioneer Place shopping mall parking lot! The churchyard can still be seen behind First Presbyterian Church building next door - Father Jameson may have been buried there too! After Father Jameson's death in 1889 both buildings were used as an annexe for newSt Paul's Episcopal Church before being finally demolished around 1961.-Jameson Street runs perpendicular northerly thru town limits then turns easterly thru Gopher Prairie Rd./New Jack Rd./Hennepin Ave./Winnipeg Ave./Edmonton St.; Burnside Rd.(now Main Street) continues northerly tho' this street becomes defunct after intersecting Rutgers Dr.(now University Ave.) Just south o' Main St., 2nd Ward boundary changes ytd.: From Township Level 1(east side o' river), Brown Deer Creek drained westerly thru gristmill lots ownedby Elijah Howe along road thence thro' woods & fields paralleling creek thence southerly thro’ farm Lots ownedby Jesse Rasmussen along stream thence northerly thro' woodlands & pastures unto& through Rice Lake Falls.– plantations doubting whether these boundaries actually remained unchanged or not likely reflect shifting settlement patterns due à la migration forcenevertheless they remain historically accurate given their proximity ot Rice Lake falls.– upon additional research it has been determined that main street does indeed run concurrently westerly thru gopher prairie RD./new jack rd./hennepin av/winnipeg av/edmonton st.; burnside road turns easterline thru university avenue
Burnsville is a town in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 6,822 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first white person to live in Burnsville was Abram Sibley who came overland from Canada in 1837. He built a cabin on the west side of Main Street and named it "Sibley's Cabin." A post office called Sibley was established in 1845, and remained in operation until 1966. In 1855, John Noyes settled near the present day intersection of Third and Fourth Streets; he named his farm "Noyes' Farm." The early settlers gradually gave up their claims to land around Burnsville because they realized that there were no Indian reserves east of Stroudsburg Township. In 1850, Marcus Daly started a blacksmith shop in what is now downtown Burnsville. In 1861,burnsville became the site of one of three auctions for land within Hennepin County for future township development (the other two being kenwood and White Bear). The sale offered 3 acres (1 km2) for each vote cast against annexation by Bloomington due to its smaller population size at that time; Burnside won with 9 votes out of 12 cast. In 1862, Major General George Armstrong Custer marched through town on his way to battle against the Sioux Nation at Little Bighorn Battlefield near present-day Hastings Boulevard and Sixth Street; during his encampment nearby Custer's Horse barn was damaged by Indians while he slept; as a result Custer ordered all men inside the barn to clear away any combustibles before morningbreak so that he could inspect the damage without further delay In 1865, Stephanus Hendrickson built an addition onto his house on Third Avenue which served as both his home and office until 1893 when he built a new residence at Seventh Avenue and Second Street which still stands today as Hendrickson Place East Inc.. Between 1865 and 1870 several churches were constructed including First Baptist Church (1865), Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church (1867), Methodist Episcopal Church (1868), Presbyterian church (1870), Congregationalist church (1871), American Baptist church/Church Missionary Society Chapel(1872), Roman Catholic church/Cathedral Basilica di San Rocco e Nuovo(1873–1976) Hendrickson also became involved with lumbering operations beginning around 1870 which led him to own more than 100 acres ()of forested land adjacent to his property throughout most of its history up until about 1915 when it reverted back into Hodgkins & Company Ltd.'s possession following purchase from them by Minneapolis Star-Tribune Co.; Hendrickson died suddenly prior to this transaction having owned sizable portions thereof since its inception (). After Hendrickson's death various heirs scrambled for control over much of what had once been known as "Hendrickson Forest". By 1916 only 5% (.27 acreage) remained undeveloped while 95% () lay under either Hodgkins or Minneapolis Star Tribune control according to current research (). Finally after many years struggle some developers finally got their hands on most or allofthelandmark holdings becoming known as Henderson Land Holdings LLC., later renamed Lennar Corporation (). Burnside Elementary School opened in 1905 along with Burnsville High School across Third Avenue from where Abram Sibley initially raised crops before moving downstream onto what is now Main Street (); both schools closed down circa 1970 concurrent with suburban growth within Hennepin County . In 1965 school District #5 merged with Hennepin County Schools creating what is now MNHS - but district buildings remain standing across Third Avenue from where Main street usedto be
