Burnsville is a city in Minnesota, United States. The population was 21,521 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hennepin County. It was founded on April 3, 1855 by James Burns and his wife Martha A. Heirs from Canada and named for General John C. Frémont who had fought in Mexican–American War (1846-48) and won the Victoria Cross for bravery under fire. The City of Burnsville was incorporated in 1877. On January 1, 1907, it became part of Minneapolis and received its own city charter that same year. On December 17, 1916, Minneapolis annexed parts of Hennepin County to form a new city; this annexation included the towns of Burnsville, Eden Prairie, Brooklyn Center, Maplewood Heights and Unadilla. Effective February 15th 1917 however, these annexation plans were reversed when it was discovered that unincorporated areas east of Interstate 90 were to be annexed as well without their consent or knowledge which caused some hurled accusations being thrown about among residents as to why businesses doing business within those boundaries were not offered the same benefits or services as those within the incorporated area; most notably with regards to homebuilders having difficulty getting permits from all five municipalities in order to build homes within their borders despite no zoning ordinances applying thereto other than "city streets" which would have been subject to any building regulations then extant within Minneapolis/Hennepin County government limits only! In light of this situation an agreement was reached whereby all but two unincorporated areas east of I-90 (Brooklyn Center & Unadilla) would remain under existing township control while they worked out arrangements with their respective governing bodies Regarding service providers: All telephone companies are currently contracted through MNNEX Wireless before they will move into municipally owned facilities - expect this arrangement to continue until such time as there is an acquisition or construction project announced by either party which will impact service availability

Burnsville was founded in 1858 by John Burns and his family as a small farming community on the east side of Ramsey County. The town name comes from John's brother Robert Burns who died in 1796 while defending himself against Indians near what is now downtown Burnsville. The business district that includes much of downtown was built during the late 19th century as an industrial center for meatpacking and other related businesses with production jobs moving to larger cities during the Great Depression years. The first school inburnsville opened in 1857 and was called "Bishop's School." In 1915, Bishop Elementary School became known as "Burnsville High School." In 1924, First Presbyterian Church merged with First Baptist Church which had also been founded two years earlier and became known as "First Presbyterian/First Baptist Church Burnett". Fourth Avenue (now Eastern Parkway) was named after Mrs. Burnett who donated land for the new school and playground on the west side of town in 1923. In 1933, Mr. & Mrs.(Mrs.) Harry Hargrave donated land along highway 12A between Payne Road and Cedar Drive for a new high school which would serve students from eastern Ramsey County including what is now Burnsville Township (later Rosemount). The first building on this property - North High School - opened in 1935 under guidance of Drue Clements who served as superintendent until his retirement in 1966 then transferred to programs at Hillsboro College before becoming Emeritus Professor at USDMHSU where he currently resides. In 1965, when USDMHSU moved to its current site on University Boulevard just east of Wright Road it again began serving students from eastern Ramsey County including what is now Burnside Township which included much of downtown back when it was only rural farmland . On October 15th, 2008 local resident Norma Weiland presented to MnDOT Director Dave Christensen an application for funding for reconstruction of US 41W between Interstate 94 & I-95 Eastbound tire rotation project beginning February 1st 2009 thru May 31st 2009 The $123 million dollar project will improve safety by resurfacing US 41W between I-94& 95E with asphalt overlay pavement prepping for future expansion Project benefits include: increased travel time efficiency; improvedaccessibility; reduced wear suffered due to traffic congestion; less environmental impact
In 1856, a group of men from Burnsville began to buy land in what is now the city. The first house was built on the lot that would later become downtown Burnsville. In 1857, the town voted to incorporate and became known as Burnsville. In 1859, a post office was established in town and in 1860, the first store was opened. A sawmill was built in 1862 and a flour mill followed in 1865. By 1870, there were five businesses in town and two schools. In 1872, a railroad was completed through the area and soon after, Burnsville became an important center for commerce. The population grew rapidly throughout the 1800s and by 1900 it had reached over 100 residents. By 1920, it had grown to over 200 people and by 1930 it had reached over 300 people
