In Burnsville, Minnesota, the first gun lights were put into use in 1903. The guns used at that time were pistols and shotguns. At that time, there was no legal way for people to own firearms in the town. So, the townspeople had to rely on volunteers to keep their weapons available. These volunteer gun lights produced a bright light that could be seen from a long distance. This made it easy for people to find and fire off shots at targets.

Some key industries include health care, education, technology manufacturing and research organizations such as Microsoft Corporation - Redmond Campus circa 1998; IKEA; Camping World America; Adobe Systems Incorporated; Target Stores Inc.; Pioneer Press Company; Barnes & Noble Nook bookstores etc., as well as numerous other smaller businesses that contribute to its vibrant economy including restaurants (including several iconic Metropolitan Grill locations), nightclubs/danceshows/variety shows etc., arts & culture venues such as First Avenue State Theatre/Pioneer Hall Theatres etc., golf courses (including two championship caliber ones), tennis courts etc., providing residents with ample opportunities for outdoor activities which help keep things active outside even when temperatures are below freezing!

Burnsville is a city in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 41,906 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous city in Ramsey County after Minneapolis-St. Paul. The Burnsville metropolitan area had a population of over 60,000 as of July 1, 2016. The first Europeans to reach Burnsville were Jacques Marquette and Nicolas Joliet in 1674 and 1675, respectively. They named their new settlement for John Burnett who had died on an earlier exploration trip near present-day Duluth. In 1793, the Dutchman Hendrik Vermuyden established a trading post here along with his family and others from New Netherland which he called "Vermuyden's Fort". In 1851, the town was platted by Nathan Bedford Forrest and Julius Rosenwald under the name of Forest City (though no real fortifications or buildings were built). Forrest became one of the largest landowners in Ramsey County and donated land to Burnsville for use as a town plot on March 6, 1857. The first store opened in what is now downtown on November 7th that year. On October 25th of that year Burnside High School was founded as part of Forrest High School (now known as Lyndale-Forest Hills HS) merger with nearby MaplewoodHigh School which then consolidated into Forest Hills HS.. By 1860burnesville had 5 voting precincts with a total population of about 100 people; but by 1870 it had grown to 20 precincts plus 2 annexations making it 30 Village Council members elected directly from wards rather than via popular vote
In 1851, the first post office in Burnsville was established. In 1892, the city became a county and in 1924, it became a state.
