Other early settlers included John Fenton and James Cronin from Ireland; John Wiegand from Russia; and William McKinney from Ohio. Brooklyn Park had a total population of 3 people as of 1900; 2 men and 1 woman. In 1910 there were 9 residents living within . At that time there were no schools or churches in Brookline Heights (later Pine Hills), so most residents attended services at home or nearby farms until automobiles made getting around easier in later years. At this time Brooklyn Park contained two businesses: a grocery store operated by Lillian McCann on Griggs Avenue NW and Bloomfield Hardware on Grand Boulevard SE. Both stores closed down around 1960 due to competition from larger stores opening up along I-35W.
