One theory holds that Englishman Jno.[?] Haddon named his estate after Kingsbridge Road near present-day Woodbury Hills Cemetery where many high-ranking British officers were buried after their surrender during the Battle of Bunker Hill on April 17, 1775;[2] another theory suggests that local settler George [????] Parks renamed his estate after one of his father's business partners from England – George Parks & Sons (later part of British Petroleum).[3][4] In any case, Brooklyn Park became an organized town in 1892 when two settlements by locals: Kingston Township to the north and Peltier Township to the south merger into one entity under new management by Darnell Murchison who had come to promote agricultural development in Crow Wing County with a view to creating larger easternMinnesota townships such as Brooklyn Park along with nearby Prior Lake and White Earth Bayou Canyon Estates. Ahern who held office from 1892-1896 followed by Rufus Fenton who held office 1896-1900 before being succeeded by James Ladd who held office 1900-1902 Afterward Henson Nelson took office 1902-1904 while Grafton Sibley served 1904-1906 then Emmet Ludington 1908-1910 Afterward Vincent Ladd 1910-1920 Upon Ladd's death 1920s passed control back to brothers James Fenton Jr., Vincent Fenton Sr., Harry Kinney 1920s through 1940s During these years most residents worked for farms or timber companies denominated 'Crow Wing Land Company'. This company changed hands several times but finally merged into Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation upon purchase by Agnew family 1945 Although Farming began slowly developers started buying land throughout 1960-'70's rapid growth led some people to call it ' Developers' Prominence '.
