In 1892 John Doherty donated land to the town for school purposes; today's University Avenue runs through downtown BloomingTON serving as its main commercial thoroughfare both before and after Interstate 94 bisects it just east of campus - thus linking these two sizable constituencies within our community - university students with other residents across various blocks adjoining I-94 all functioning simultaneously as one integrated whole!
