Blaine was first settled by Norwegian Americans in 1881. In 1907, Blaine became part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area and began to experience increased growth as it became an economic center for agriculture and manufacturing. In 1966, the town achieved city status and experienced rapid growth as its residents voted to annex neighboring towns of Chanhassen and Golden Valley. Today, Blaine is one of the most diverse communities in Minnesota with a wide range of cultures, languages, religions, and economies.

They started out as farmers and later transitioned into lumberjacks and other trades. In 1907, they built the first school in the town and it served until 1924 when it was replaced by the current building which stands today. The community has since grown to become an important cultural and economic center for nearby Minneapolis-Saint Paul. In 2009, Blaine became one of twelve townships within the City of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania after being annexed by that city from Apple County. The name "Blaine" comes from two words: "breen" meaning "a break" or "a spot where water flows downhill". So this place may have been named for a natural defect on some property or because someone found a break or stream thereabouts during their exploration for farmland next door (or elsewhere). By 1881, most Norwegians had settled hereabouts due to opportunities set aside for them through land grants given to them by President James Kossuth following his nationwide cattle drive across America in 1878-79 as part of his American Westward Expansion plan In those early days there were just a few people living hereabouts so much so that some refer to it as 'the little Norway'. It wasn't until after World War II that things began to change with more people moving into this area due to various factors such as new technology starting up hereabouts (thank you internet) while also seeing opportunities available open up farther away like jobs at factories nearer home etcetera Today we still feel close knit with our old neighbors down south but we see all sorts of people from around the world come and visit us including some US Embassy staff members who are alwayscacheng something new about how easy it is to get connected online etcetera This thriving community has gone through many ups and downs throughout its years but always bounced back thanks largely to its citizens hard work & dedication !
Blaine is a small, farming town in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area, located about 12 miles northeast of downtown Minneapolis and 8 miles south of St. Paul. The population was 7,827 at the 2000 census. The first permanent settler in Blaine was James Fenton, who arrived in 1836. The first school in Blaine was organized in 1839. In 1850, Rev. John Hennepin founded the First Presbyterian Church in Blaine and it remained the only church in the town until 1915. In 1861, a post office was established at Blaine and it continued to serve as an important center for communication until 1955 when Stroudsburg (now Mankato) became the town's largest city. In 1871, lumberman George Stephenson donated land to build what is now North High School on Broadway Avenue in Blaine; this donation helped start one of Minnesota's most successful high schools system. North High School still stands today and is home to many local businesses and organizations including MNsure Health Plan Inc., MN Wildcat Athletic Conference teams (the team has played all 82 games since joining Division I), and several art museums includingGallery Nucleus: Minnesota’s Top Art Collection & Museum which opened its doors on October 1st, 2018 adjacent to North High School’s campus
