Bemidji, Minnesota is a city in southern Minnesota. The population was 22,712 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hennepin County. The name means "place where the beavers dam". The first European to visit Bemidji was Pierre-Charles de La Salle on July 30, 1681 while on his way south from Canada via Lake Superior. He named it after the river Beaver which he saw flowing through the area. In 1857, John Nicolay and Edwina Palmer founded what would become Minneapolis and named their city after Bemidji – an act that helped make Minneapolis one of America's most important cities during its early days. Bemidji experienced significant growth starting in the late 1800s as grain farmers turned to such new technologies asarrowroot plowing to increase yields on their land. Manufacturing also increased during this time with firms like Peabody Coal Company establishing themselves hereabouts. However, by 1925 downtown business had thinned out and many residents moved away for better opportunities in nearby cities or outside of Minnesota altogether due to agricultural depression brought about by president Warren G Harding's New Deal policies which slashed government spending programs and failed to create jobs throughout much of America. However, many businesses have continued to thrive despite difficult times thanks in part to strong local leadership including Mayor Donny Knaus who has been in office since 2003 and played a leading role in creating revitalization plans for downtown Bemidji; attracting new businesses, arts & culture venues, housing development and more. In 2017, Bemidji became one of only two Twin Cities cities (the other being Saint Paul) designated as a City Alive Community by Neighborhood Green Ribbon Program – making it one step closer towards becoming a thriving community destination enjoyed by all its citizens once again!

Bemidji, Minnesota is a small town in the east-central United States. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis–St. Paul metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1854 by Danish immigrants who had come to Nebraska Territory looking for land to settle. The first post office was established in Bemidji on September 3, 1855. At that time it consisted of just a few homes and a store. By 1860, Bemidji had a school and five churches. In 1865, the U.S. Congress passed legislation creating Dakota Territory and giving the new state of Minnesota permission to establish towns within its boundaries; Bemidji became one of these townships. In 1870, some residents of Bemidji started to purchase land around what is now downtown for development into what would become known as "the Town." The first building in this period was the hotel which stands today on Elm Street between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue North (now Independence Mall). This structure served as both a hotel and Post Office until 1915 when it burned down due to an arson incident In 1907, construction began on what would become known as "The Park" which included two football fields/campsite with bathrooms, showers and toilets on each side of the field - one behind midfield line while another served as owner's box; also built were several apartment buildings including Oneida Falls Apartments which still stand today On October 1st 1905 local newspapers reported that an agreement had been reached between city officials from Minneapolis-St Paul and Aon Corporation executives regarding plans for enlarging Anheuser Busch Brewery across First Avenue from Cedar Street near Lake Superior to State Highway 54 near Interstate 55; work began immediately on constructing this addition which would eventually become known as Budweiser Stadium In 1914 locals commemorated their centennial with a picnic located at Moody Parkette followed bya parade through downtown streets culminating at City Hall where refreshments were served
