Alexandria, Minnesota is a small town located in the Dakota Hills region of east-central Minnesota. The population was 1,642 at the 2000 census. It has been reported that scopes and telescopes have been used by farmers, fishermen, hunters and other rural residents for over 100 years. The first scopes in Alexandria were built by Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail in 1839. The first telescope to be used in Alexandria was a scientific instrument called the “Hawk” which was used to observe the stars. In 1868, Alexander Cartan built a new observatory which became known as “The Great Western Scopic Observatory”. This telescope would provide astronomers with images of galaxies and planets for research purposes. In 1915, astronomer Charles Messier donated his library of astronomical objects to Alexandria University trustees. At this time, Alexandria had two observatories: one operated by the University and another run by Messier himself. After World War II, both observatories were closed down due to budget cuts. However, they reopened in 1951 as part of the University's Menorah Program which offered opportunities for students to work on astronomy projects during their undergraduate studies. In 1957–58, Robert Hittell installed an 8 inch reflector telescope at The Great Western Scopic Observatory which helped improve our understanding of celestial phenomena such as eclipses and meteors! In 1978–79, Drs James Clapper and John Griggs set up an 8 inch Dobsonian telescope at The Great Western Scopic Observatory which allowed us to view faint objects like quasars from a greater distance than ever before! Today there are many scopes available in Alexandria including four 12-inch telescopes (the newest being an ESO 10 Meter Telescope) as well as six 8-inch aperture telescopes! These scopes allow researchers access to data that would not be possible using traditional instruments or methods!

Alexandria, Minnesota is a small town in the northwestern corner of the U.S. state of Minnesota. The population was 905 at the 2010 census. It is located on the border of Dakota and Crow counties. The townsite was laid out in 1881 by farmers who were attracted to its location along a wagon road connecting Winnipeg with Duluth. The name Alexandria means "place where oxen pasture." The first post office in Alexandria was established in 1889, and it remained open until 1907. In 1902, a railroad track was built through Alexandria and it became an important commercial center for the area. In 1916, construction began on what would become Alexandria High School; it opened in 1927 and remains one of the oldest high schools inMinnesota today. In 1930, Alexandria incorporated as a city; it has since grown into one of the largest cities in north-central Minnesota.

Alexandria, Minnesota is one of the oldest communities in the current Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1881 by Alexander McKay and his wife, Nellie. The town was named after Alexandria, Virginia which at that time was a small farming village located near present day Minneapolis. The first post office in Alexandria opened on October 8, 1881. It served as the interim location for three weeks until a new building could be erected on Seventh Street. In 1889, the town received its own post office which still operates today. The town saw an increase in population during World War I due to the influx of soldiers from nearby Duluth and Winnipeg. The population peaked at around 10,000 during the war years but declined following its conclusion. This decline can be partially attributed to a lack of industrial opportunities in Alexandria and also because of increased competition from other towns within St Paul County that were growing more rapidly at that time. After World War I ended, growth resumed in Alexandria with several new businesses being established including a grocery store and lumberyard/logging camp known as Camp Alexandrian (later renamed Camp Wartime). AfterCamp Alexandrian ceased operations in 1946 it became home to what is now called North Side High School before being sold to Minnetonka High School and becoming part of their curriculum starting in 1976. It wasn't until 1984 when plans were filed to demolish North Side High School and replace it with a Mediterranean Revival style school built adjacent to Middleton Park Golf Course which would become known as North Side Elementary School (renamed Grandview Heights Middleton Park Academy after purchase by MNHS). However, these plans were postponed when city officials determined that no money could be raised to finance the project without raising taxes elsewhere within Minneapolis-StPaul . Later that year construction began on what would eventually become Alexandria Middleton Park Academy which became home to both Grandview Heights Middleton Park Academy and Grandview Heights Intermediate School before finally becoming AlexandraHighSchool starting in 2006 when it merged into MNHS.. Finally, construction began on Saint John's Catholic Church (renamed Eastman United Methodist Church) across from Grandview Heights Intermediate School whichopened its doors on November 15th 2007
The town of Alexandria was founded in 1854 by Andrew W. Greeley, the founder of The New York Tribune. It became a city in 1903.
