In 1977, the Michigan State University Laboratory of Chemical Technology received a grant from the US Department of Energy to develop a high capacity converter for electric power generation. The goal was to increase the range and efficiency of electric generators by converting large amounts of electricity into other forms, such as gasoline or diesel fuel. The first high capacity converter prototype was developed by Drs. James Fenton and George Welsh. They used an improvement on the design developed at MSU in 1974 by Professors John Treadwell and Clifford Prentice. This new design featured four transformers coupled in series, each feeding two reactors in one large transformer core. This prototype also had a higher efficiency than any previous converter design, reaching around 82%. However, due to political considerations at that time, funding for this project was eventually cut off. In 1983, Drs. Russ Meyer and Don Armstrong designed and built the next version of the highcapacity converter – known today as Model B1 – which featured five transformers instead of four and increased efficiency still further to 97%. Despite these advances, it took until 1996 for Model B2 to be fielded as production equipment on Michigan's electric grid. That year saw the introduction of a new technology called EGT (electronic Grid Transmission) that allowed transmission lines to be interconnected directly with power plants without intermediate converters or load control nodes; this made possible larger scale conversions without having to worry about frequency restrictions or congestion issues on individual lines).

After selling his farm, Glover became involved with Cassius Marsh who operated a ferry service between Detroit and Lower Lake Superior (present-day Sault Ste Marie). This connection led to directly trading with fur traders located beyond the Great Lakes region which increased trade within upper Canada and opened up new markets for American merchants such as Glover. Glover also helped build one of downtown's first mills which opened in 1830; this mill would be replaced by another later that same year after being destroyed by fire In 1840, Glover married Mary Ann Humphreys and they raised four children: John Jr., Sarah Ann (known as Polly), Josephine (later named Clara) and Anna Elizabeth (known as Annie). In addition to farming, trading and milling activities during these years allowed Glover to become wealthy enough so he decided to move his family westward into Washtenaw County where he purchased 5 acres (2 hectares) near present day North Park Street on February 14th, 1850 From here he began expanding his holdings by purchasing more land around Watertown until finally achieving full proprietorship on November 17th of that year . By 1860 however he had reduced acreage remaining within Washtenaw County so much so that when legislation authorizing incorporation of townships within Washtenaw County were proposed , it was felt necessary for him quickly sell all remaining land including parts of Ypsilanti . A bill authorising incorporation passed both houses without any opposition on April 25th 1861 but due concerns about possible frauds associated with township incorporations never took effect On May 10th 1861 , following passage of Act No 3 Of 1862 , William Prentice appointed George Stephenson Mayor pro tempore for lack of quorum In 1863 Samuel Woodward became Mayor Pro Tem after Prentice resigned due to health reasons On July 15th 1865 , Nathan Hale became Mayor pro tempore effective immediately upon appointment following James Fordham’s resignation due To illness

Ypsilanti is a town in Washtenaw County, Michigan, United States. The population was 9,811 at the 2000 census. The township covers an area of 382 square miles (1,022 km²). Ypsilanti is one of the few townships in Michigan that does not have a municipal government aside from its police department and fire department. It is also home to the University of Michigan's Rossmoor Campus. The first European settlers in what would become Ypsilanti were French fur traders who came through the area in 1796 while on their way to travel upriver to the Georgian Bay Settlement. Jesuit missionaries established a Catholic mission at Michillongo Creek in 1807 and named it after St. Ignatius Loyola, patron saint of France and Mexico City. In 1814, General James Kappes founded Kappes & Co., lumber merchants who operated out of Ypsilanti for over eighty years until they merged with Wabash Navigation Company in 1903. In 1835, Josephine Kettering donated land to establish two villages: l'Angevine (later called Villa Montessori) and Belle Isle (named for Queen Victoria's mother). Both villages were laid out along straight streets with small gardens between them; sharing water supplies and school facilities was impossible. Kettering also funded a public works program which included brick-paving the village sidewalks and building schools, churches and other infrastructure such as Roads 8th Street NW and Cass Avenue NE. Belle Isle was abandoned by 1860 due to lack of development; however, l'Angevine continued to grow until it had a population of 100 residents by 1881 when it became part of Belleville Township; becoming home to both Armenian Catholics (the original Village Armenians moved away during World War II) as well as white Protestants (which increased after Anti-Defamation League head Abraham Lincoln visited Belle Isle in 1861). In 1909–10 US Senator Augustus Earle built himself a house on Belle Isle after being refused entry into Belleville because he did not meet eligibility requirements for admitting visitors from Illinois under then US Senate Rule XXI(a)(3), which allowed Senators representing territories without representation inside the state be admitted without meeting residency or property qualifications The Belle Isle School District No 2 closed its doors effective September 1st 2006 due primarily to budget constraints but also because many students had transferred from nearby Dresden High School which closed upon its own budget restraints within weeks
