Wyandotte, Michigan is a small town located in the central-west portion of the state of Michigan. It is the county seat of Washtenaw County and has a population of just over 14,000 people. The town was founded by German immigrants in 1824 as a farming community. By 1870, Wyandotte had become an important center for leather production in the area. In 1907, Wyandotte became part of Lansing and its population grew to over 30,000 people. In 1954, Wyandotte's city government merged with that of Lansing and the towns' populations combined to form Wyandotte City. The soft gun case history in Wyandotte can be traced back to 1911 when John J. Fenton opened his Fenton Leather Company on Main Street in what is now the downtown core of Wyandote. That company soon became known for its high quality soft gun cases made from cowhide and other animal hides. Over time, other businesses joined Fenton's company including Wesson Firearms Corporation which produced revolvers and pistols under the name "Wesson" until 1971; Wagon Wheel Manufacturing which made Winchester rifles from 1903-1973; Grosse Pointe Lumber & Hardware which manufactured handgun cases until 1984; then finally Midland Guns Inc., which produced handguns until 2009. From 1911 through 1969, Fenton Leather was also responsible for manufacturing alligator skin wallets used by American President George Washington as part of his inauguration ceremonies (see photo). The first soft gun case I ever saw was made by John J. Fenton at Fenton Leather Company back in 1911! The Second World War brought some big changes to our economy so much so that many small companies were forced out of business during that time period including John J. Fenton'sFenton Leather Co.. However even though their products no longer carried through into modern times they still maintain a significant presence within our local community thanks to their donations to various organizations like Habitat for Humanity and Foodbank Of Michigan!

In 1916, the Wyandotte Gun Case Company merged with the National Firearms Institute to form the National Firearms Association.

Wyandotte is a small town in the U.S. state of Michigan, population 5,798 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids–Holland Metropolitan Statistical Area and is located on the southern shore of Lake Huron. The name Wyandotte was derived from the Potawatomi word wenk (a hunting ground). The first white man to set foot in what is now Wyandotte Township was George Stephenson in 1807, when he built a steamboat on Antrim River for trade with Canada. In 1824, Stephenson discovered and named Wyandotte Creek after his home county of Lancashire, England. The creek later became known as Muskegon River because of its navigable course through that township. In 1832, Stephenson's son-in-law John Dickey founded what would become Dickey's Mill on the south side of present day Wyandotte Creek just west of town limits. By 1840, mills had been erected along both creeks and within several miles of each other. In 1846, Wm Hays established a sawmill east of town on current day Lansing Road while Gabriel Michaux constructed a grist mill east of town between 1850 and 1852 using water power from an old blacksmith shop west of town limits. On November 16, 1850, act 722 authorized creation and organization as a village by Order in Council under the jurisdiction thereof without any vote by residents or referendum; however this order did not take effect until December 3rd due to lack of signatures from all requisite proportions necessary for establishment as Village Hall had not yet been built! On January 1st 1861 villagers voted overwhelmingly to form their own government with their own Mayor and Board! This effectively created Village Government; however it only lasted until December 3rd 1961 when again lackadaisicalvillagers failed to collect enough signatures for formal establishment! Finally effective February 10th 1862 under new leadership (with assistance from newly appointed Territorial Governor Augustus Herrington)Village Government finally reestablished with full voting rights! Here we are today - nearly 150 years later - celebrating our vibrant democracy & thriving community spirit!

In 1846, Wyandotte became the first town in Michigan to be incorporated as a township.
