In 1876, Drury & Company began producing rifles in Wyandotte, Michigan. Drury & Company manufactures rifles and shotguns under three different brands- Winchester, Browning, and Remington- which has kept Wyandotte’s Riflestocks industry alive throughout its history!

The Wyandotte rifle stock company was founded in 1881. The company manufactured rifles and shotguns for the military and hunting communities in Michigan. In 1912, the company became a subsidiary of Winchester Repeating Arms Company.
Wyandotte is a town in Wayne County, Michigan, United States. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. The community is part of the Detroit metropolitan area. The name " Wyandotte" is Norwegian and means "prominence." The first white person to settle in present-day Wyandotte was Jacob Rasmussen in 1827. He built a gristmill on the south side of the Ottawa River and named it after his home country, Norway. In 1830, John Fenton arrived with his family from Boston and started a small farm west of town. By 1835, all but one of the Fenton families had left for other parts of the state or Canada because of economic difficulties caused by the Panic of 1837. In 1840, Methodist preacher Alexander McNaught established a log schoolhouse on what is now Main Street in Wyandotte. This became an important center for education during this time as most residents were illiterate or could not read or write at that time. By 1850, there were five schools in Wyandotte: two public schools and three private academies *. These schools gave rise to further growth in Wyandotte as many people began working their way up through society because they could not simply attend school to receive an education like others did then. Oneofthe original churches located in downtown Wyandotte was First Presbyterian (later rededicated as Christ Church). Reverend James Auld founded our church here back when it opened its doors on October 3rd 1889*. Reverend Auld served as pastor until his death on May 1st 1925*. After Reverend Auld's passing, Revonious John Garton served as interim pastor from 1925-1951(*). At Revonious Garton's retirement service held on November 1st 1951*, former Pastor Harry Sibley assumed leadership duties for our church effective that day†† *. From 1951-1959(*), Mrs Grace Addison officiated at services once every week during which time she also taught Sunday School* (*). Portsmouth Street School buildings are still standing today! Wyandotte is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the capital of Wyandotte County. The population was 3,681 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Detroit metropolitan area. The history of Wyandotte began with three families who arrived on July 29, 1837, from Illinois: John Fenton, his wife Mary Ann (née Noyes), their son William and their daughter Nancy (Vernon). They erected a log cabin on what is now Grand River Avenue in what was then Warren Township and named it "Fenton's Grove". The first post office in this town was established in 1841. In 1847, when the township was formed into district No. 2, Wyandotte became its seat; it remained so until 1898 when it became the capital of Wyandotte County. In 1865, two brothers by the name of Lyon constructed a sawmill on Mud Lake near present-day Belleview; it continued production until 1902. Another brother, George Lyon II & Sons bought out Lyon's partners and reopened the mill as an engine works company which operated until 1951. In 1916–1917 there were numerous small fires that destroyed most businesses in town including one that burned down a schoolhouse; fortunately no pupils were injured or lost any property although some classes were cancelled because of lack of textbooks! In 1928 Walled City was founded adjacent to present day Belleview by several farmers who wanted to start a new community outside of Lansing due to city restrictions on farming land east of I-94 near downtown Lansing also known as "The Jungle". However Walled City failed to gain much popularity and closed within 5 years while being unable to attract investors or become self-sufficient like its predecessor had done! In 1958 Chevrolet built a plant southeast of town adjacent to Comstock State Park for manufacturing parts for Cadillac cars before moving operations back upstream into Lansing 6 years later but leaving behind an extensive infrastructure including over 50 miles (80 km) worth of roads and more than 100 bridges across five counties serving four Metropolitan Areas! As part as GM’s “One World” strategy designed around corporate social responsibility this once important industrial center has been all but destroyed by suburban development since relocating HQ from downtown Lansing in 2009—-resulting in job loss for many local residents along with increased pollution from factory emissions
The first Wyandotte County was organized in 1837. The county seat was at Ford City. It was named for General James Wilkinson, the first Governor of Michigan. The county was disbanded in 1861 when it was merged into Wayne County.
