Wyandotte, Michigan is a small town in the counties of Grand Traverse, Shiawassee, and Ottawa. The population was 597 at the 2000 census. Wyandotte is located on the north side of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. It is bordered by the towns of Holland to its east and Sault Ste. Marie to its west. The first settler in what is now Wyandotte was Nicholas Bemis in 1824. He built a cabin on what is now Main Street and named it after his home country, Vermont. In 1828, John Ladd established a post office in Wyandotte with four mailboxes. A sawmill was built on the river near present-day Main Street in 1830 by John Hildebrandt and named Waverly after his wife, Wilhelmina (Willa) Hildebrandt. In 1833, James Purdy bought 3 acres of land at what is now River Road for $75 from David Kappenhamer. Purdy donated this land to Wyandotte Township for use as a township square which he also name "Purdy Square". The first house that was erected on this square was built by Lemuel Phelps in 1835/36 as part of a village project organized by trustees appointed by Governor Holmquist to improve public morals and increase commerce in the area. The settlement around Purdy Square grew rapidly due to wagon trade between Detroit and Upper Michigan along Buena Vista Road which passed through Wyandotte Township on its way from Green Bay to Toledo via Muskegon Heights east of where today's Woodward Avenue meets downtown Detroit; traffic had been diverted onto buena vista when water levels dropped during freezes years making travel possible over snowbanks many miles long across all lower peninsula states within inclement weather conditions some three months per year prior to drivable surface transportation being available turning an important agricultural center into one with numerous industrial workshops warehousing lumberyards tanneries salt production breweries distilleries Pizza Hut convenience stores hamburgers drive-in restaurants providing townspeople with affordable food they could bring home without having their vehicles stranded out there during winter time On rare occasions wolverine or other big game hunter activity would occur overnight or early morning outside local homes ground level window lines were kept open so occupants could watch while animals were hunted allowing residents access necessary for family function including using garden tools outdoors adult entertainment five blocks away from high school drop off childrens' programs movies theater two blocks away from library

Wyandotte is a city in and the county seat of Wyandotte County, Michigan, United States. The population was 534 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Detroit–Warren metropolitan area. Wyandotte was organized as a village in 1837 and became a city in 1851. The first settler in what is now Wyandotte was Nicholas Hutton. He came to the area from Illinois on July 17, 1836 with his family, consisting of himself and five others: four women and one man named John Cook (later Cook). On October 6, 1836, Hutton purchased 640 acres (2 km²) of land from Jellico Township, Michiganders for $1 per acre ($27 total). This purchase made Wyandotte one of the largest villages in Michigan at that time. Hutton's home still stands today within the boundaries of present-day Wyandotte City limits; it has been40 years since it was last occupied by humans. In 1840, Hutton sold his holdings to James Fenton for $4 per acre ($64 total). Fenton had come to the area from Ohio with his brother-in-law Amos Dixon who founded Greenfield Township near Cadillac on November 14th, 1800. All but Sylvester Augustus were naturalized American citizens by this time having moved to this country when they were just toddlers or younger. It should be noted that not only did these early settlers establish themselves physically here but also emotionally as well; they built homes that remain standing today such as Nicholas Hutton's "Virginia House" which still stands within its original boundaries while also hosting countless events over 400 years later including an annual Fourth of July parade which features more than 1 million people! This physical presence can be seen throughout town today where many streets are named after earlier settlers or their families even if they never lived here themselves like Second Street after Capt’n Anthony Wayne who served as Mayor from 1901 until 1911 & Third Street taken after Levi Coffin who represented District 3 during World War II before he joined UAW Local 1006 & helped create Ford Motor Company
Wyandotte was founded in 1837 by John Wyandotte, a French Canadian. The town was named in honor of General Andrew Jackson and his wife, Nancy Cinquefort. In 1849, the United States bought the land from the France Company for $15,000. By 1870, Wyandotte had a population of 235 people and was growing rapidly. In 1875, the first store opened in Wyandotte and by 1896 there were five stores in the town. The post office opened in 1897 and continued to serve until it closed in 1916.
