Woodhaven is a small town in Muskegon County, Michigan, United States. The population was 724 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids–Wolverine Metropolitan Statistical Area. Woodhaven is located on the Muskegon River and has a mild climate with average temperature range from 18-25 degrees Fahrenheit. The first European settlement in what is now Muskegon County was made by Father Gabriel Louis Rousselle in 1799 when he founded a trading post on the Wabasha River. In 1800, Jean Baptiste Pointe de la Salle built Fort Dearborn about 12 miles (19 km) north of present-day Woodhaven on what is now Upson Road. After American Revolutionary War victory over Great Britain, troops under General George Washington burned Fort Dearborn to prevent British retaliation. In 1814, Nicholas Justus Fenton established a ferry service across the Muskegon River between present-day Woodhaven and Gratiot Township for goods transported upriver to Detroit via Huron Canal. In 1831, Josiah Bartlett erected a log cabin near today's corner of Main Street and Woodward Avenue as his home base for exploring the area around Muskegon Heights which he believed would be rich in mineral resources awaiting exploitation. A year later, he laid out a town square including Hartley Schoolhouse as its first courthouse and storeroom alongside his cabin where he functioned as Mayor from 1832 until his death in 1850; local historian Harry Emerson Fosdick declared him "the father of downtown muskegon." In 1840, John Haggerty enlarged Bartlett's cabin and added two stories to it along with an addition to the west side that served asangerouse/factory where cast iron products were manufactured until 1892; today's attached garage serves as its original facade. In 1861, after land purchases by Pastor James Ladds complete with millstream running through it became available south of town center following removal of Native American land constraints withinMuskegon County resulting from Ulysses S Grant’s executive order known as “The Order of Civilian Disposition” this area became known as "Fenton Township". The community developed rapidly due to easy access to water supplies due to major flooding caused by heavy rains during winter months; lumberyards were opened up around this time along with stores such as Grist Mill & Clothing House (now called Green Acres), First National Bank (now Jiffy Lube), Methodist Episcopal Church (now St Joseph Catholic Church), Post Office (1862-1964) and several residences constructed such as Mrs Cushing's Store Annex (later renamed Mayflower Place Apartments) at what are now Fourth Street and Seventh Avenue NE.; most notably Masonic Lodge No 3 building which still stands adjacent to current day Park Road just east of I-225 exit 27A). When automobile transportation became prevalent in late 19th century America many residents relocated their businesses away from water supplies considerations leading some formative years into early 20th century when wood frame houses replaced handcrafted wooden structures becoming one common denominator among all social classes within many small towns throughout central Michigan likemuskEGon

However, even though this building did not survive, its design remains popular among developers today because it features an unusual shaped roofline that gives it an impression of being outofthis world when viewed from across Lansing Avenue.
