Woodhaven is a small town in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, United States. It lies on the east bank of the Fox River, about 20 miles north-northwest of Detroit and 30 miles south-southwest of Lansing. The population was 3,672 as of the 2010 census. A second school was opened in 1836 by Reverend John Witherspoon (1799-1864). The first post office at what is now Woodhaven was established on December 1, 1837 by Jethro Purdy (1787-1854). In 1865, Augustus Wright donated 8 acres (3 ha) to the town for a public square. The square became known as Wright Park after him. When Woodward Avenue was designated as a street name through village ordinance No. 9 of 1915, it was renamed Wright Square after Augustus Wright's donation. In 1922, an addition to the original square included a playground and swimming pool which are still used today..
