Woodhaven is a small town in the Midwestern United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of theMuskegon Heights, Michigan Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Woodhaven were French traders and missionaries in 1701. The area that would become Woodhaven was first settled by Polish farmers in 1824. In 1872, a group of American miners discovered gold on the property which would become known as Woodhaven Gold Mines. Woodhaven became an incorporated town on July 1, 1902. The community's name comes from two pieces of land donated by George W. Norris to the village - one measuring , and the other measuring . In 1923, work began on creating a water tower to serve the village and soon there were several buildings in town owned or leased by businesses such as Laundromat No. 3 (later renamed P&G), Post Office (1927), dentist’s office (1929), bakery (1930) and grocery store (1932). In 1937, when Interstate 94 was completed through Muskegon Heights, most of what is now Woodhaven was annexed into neighboring Muskegon Heights proper; however, some parcels east of Main Street still remain unincorporated with their own ZIP code for purposes of postal service operation/administration due to their distance from downtown Muskegon Heights proper. On November 16th 1954 a magnitude 6 earthquake struck central Michigan causing extensive damage throughout much of southern Wayne County including parts of Muskegon Heights including Woodhaven where many homes were destroyed or damaged beyond repair with little hope for reconstruction until later decades when new methods and money came available from state governments during economic growth periods across Michigan overall which then funded redevelopment efforts within municipalities as well resulting in many similar types/effects taking place within different areas across different levels governmental entities all working together in tandem towards common outcomes resulting ultimately increased quality-of-life opportunities for residents across all levels regardless of jurisdictional boundaries

Woodhaven is a small town in the U.S. state of Michigan. It was founded in 1836, and is located on the eastern bank of the Ottawa River. The population was 792 at the 2010 census. The town is named after General John Wood, who served as an officer in the United States Army during the Mexican-American War and as a brigadier general during the American Civil War. In 1837, he donated land to make up what would become Woodhaven Township, which covers . From that date forward, Woodhaven's residents were known as "Waldenians." The first post office was established in 1838, and continued until it closed in 1907. According to one source, "Walden" comes from an early settler's name for a marshy area near where today's town stands: "Walde" means wetland or swamp; "henge" means mound or beach; and "dune" refers to any type of flat ground surrounded by woods or bushes. Another source says Waldenian came about because people living there thought they resembled .........................
The town of Woodhaven was founded in 1855 by a group of pioneers. The town grew rapidly and soon became a popular summer resort for the area. In 1912, the town amalgamated with neighboring villages to form the city of Detroit.
