Woodhaven is a small town in Monroe County, Michigan, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids–Wyoming metropolitan area. The first settler in what became Woodhaven was George Stephenson in 1814. He built the first steamboat on the Muskegon River and named it "The Rocket." The town site was chosen because of its natural features including woodlands and a small stream that ran through it. The town's first store opened in 1824 and soon there were several other businesses as well. In 1830, the first school was built and became known as "the best in the area." By 1840, Woodward had become one of the most important villages in Monroe County with a population of over 500 people. In 1850, when Michigan Statehood was granted to Michigan, Woodhaven became part of Washtenaw County and experienced some growth but also lost many of its residents to migration to new states during the wave of American westward expansion. However by 1860 Woodhaven still had more people than any other village within Washtenaw County apart from Detroit which only had 610 residents at that time! However by 1870 Woodhaven's population had decreased again due largely to heavy agricultural production which caused Great Depression-era unemployment among its local farmers; however by 1930 it had recovered somewhat thanks to tourism especially after President Franklin D Roosevelt arrived in America for his famous “ welcome home” speech on October 14th 1934 here at Woodward Community Hall where he announced plans for his New Deal programs including Social Security (later called Medicare). In 1948 Woodhaven celebrated its centennial year with parade and picnic attended by many notable citizens from throughout our community as well as neighboring communities such as Lapeer Township and West Bloomfield Township; both townships now form part of Grand Rapids–Wyoming Metropolitan Area .Today Woodhaven has regained much popularity as an independent community with unique assets such as its beautiful parkland full of forested hillsides bordered by streams with excellent hiking trails accessible from almost everywhere within easy reach; great shopping opportunities at numerous local boutiques/stores dotting all walks of life; top-notch health care options available through nearby medical centers like Huron Valley Hospital & Clinics or Saginaw Valley Health Network - plus world-renowned amusement park located just a short drive away complete with plenty of activities for everyone imaginable? Woodhaven is a small town in the US state of Michigan. It is located on the Canada-US border and is bordered by Saginaw to the north, Battle Creek to the east, and Monroe County to the south. The population was 1,539 at the 2010 census. The first settler in what would become Woodhaven was John Hammond who arrived in 1814. By 1830, most of what is now Woodhaven had been surveyed and laid out when George Stephenson founded his transportation company called Stephenson & Company near present day Battle Creek. With access to new land and rails coming through Canada, development proceeded quickly in this part of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Eventually, much of what is now Woodhaven was annexed by Saginaw as part of that city's growth; however, parts of it still remain within Michigan's borders including portions of Northwood Estates which are Homecoming weekend events annually for residents from nearby Saginaw Township and other areas which have since seceded from Saginaw Township (the area around Southfield includes Dearborn Heights). One important early figure associated with Woodhaven was Solomon Mather who opened an grocery store there in 1858 followed by J.P. Morgan who set up a shop there three years later before moving on to open a flour mill in 1860 also named after him in what would eventually become downtown Wood Haven. By 1870, much of what remains today as downtown was built up around these two businesses plus several others including a drugstore/grocery store/hotel combo known as The Palace until it closed its doors in 1957 following tough competition from local places such as Midtown Shopping Mall across town (which also became home to Woodward University after being founded there by Henry Ford). In 1892 saw construction begin on Detroit’s only electric streetcar line connecting downtown with burgeoning neighborhoods like West Side Village along Second Avenue; due largely to donations given by James Wirtz Sr., founder and CEO of Detroit Edison Company - one significant early player in downtown Detroit’s rebirth following its incorporation into municipal government - many similar streetcar lines were built throughout northwest Michigan over subsequent decades culminating with Grand Rapids’ opening of its own system just prior to World War II (Grand Rapids became known as “The Motor City” during this time period). Today, Downtown Wood Haven retains much character from its past while also becoming a center for education and commerce with several high-end businesses occupying prominent locations including Woodward Avenue between Park Boulevard and Gratiot Avenue – home to several restaurants such as Benares Grill & Spirits LLP – while smaller shops flank both sides of Woodward creating an attractive mix that can be visited without leaving Downtown wood haven itself!

In 1868, the town of Woodhaven was organized and named in honor of General George Washington. The first post office was established inWoodhaven in 1869. In 1893, the town became a city and was renamed Woodhaven, Michigan. The population of Woodhaven increased rapidly during the early 20th century and by 1920 it had reached over 10,000 people. The city experienced rapid growth due to its importance as a manufacturing center for various products such as automobiles, radios, typewriters, and other electronics equipment. However, during World War II the city's economy dropped off because of the war effort; however, after the war the city began to grow again thanks to new businesses opening up and new residents moving into the area. Today Woodhaven is one of Michigan's most vibrant cities with a rich history that can be enjoyed by all who live there.
