Woodhaven is a small town in the Kalamazoo-Portage County, Michigan, United States. The population was 1,117 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Muskegon Heights–Harrison Township Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1872 by settlers from Ohio and has been gradually growing since then. The most recent additions to the town include the development of Woodhaven Village in 2002 and Woodhaven Township in 2003. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Muskegon Heights were fur traders who had come downriver from Detroit following their exploration of the Upper Peninsula during the 17th century. They named their new settlement after an oak tree that they saw standing on a hill near their encampment on Big Rapids Bayou (now Grand River). The first settler families arrived around 1872, when they were driven out of their land by Native Americans. In 15 years, many more people moved into this area as steamboats began operations bringing goods upriver toMuskegon Heights and other towns along the Upper Peninsula River system. By 1910, there were over 2,000 residents living in Woodhaven and it had become one of Muskegon Heights' most vibrant communities. During World War II, Woodhaven played an important role as a munitions manufacturing center for General Motors Corporation; its factories produced vehicles such as tanks and planes as well as artillery pieces and ammunition. Many displaced American citizens found work here war-time because no other job opportunities existed outside of downtown Muskegon Heights or Harrison Township. After the war ended, much of this production ceased but some companies continued to operate until they closed around 1982 due to economic recession within Michigan at that time In 2002, developers purchased portions of what had been a small agricultural community near Woodhaven Village for use as a shopping mall with office space and homes overlooking Interstate 94 opposite Hollandale Lakefront Park which provides water access for fishing while also providing views onto wooded areas east of I-94 known locally as "the Green Hills". As more housing developments came online throughout Michigan during suburban growth spurt during that decade; Woodhaven became an attractive option for retirees looking for rural lifestyle without all tha extra traffic congestion or pollution associated with larger cities like Detroit or Flint Today's population: 1,117

Woodhaven is a small town in the Kalamazoo County, Michigan area. The population was 581 at the 2010 census. It is located on the west side of Woodhaven Township and north of Battle Creek. It is part of the Battle Creek–Kalamazoo Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in what would become Woodhaven were some men who prospected for coal near what is now known as Midland in 1822. Others came from New York City in 1824 and started a post office there in 1830. The first school was built on what is now Main Street in 1837. The first store was built about 1840 by John Davenport, which operated until 1865 when it burned down. In 1850, Henry Jourdain donated land to build a school and Catholic church on it, which became St Ignatius Catholic Church (now Holy Cross Catholic School). In 1861, John Anderton donated land to build a courthouse on it but this structure never stands today because it was destroyed by fire in 1922. The town hall also burned down but was rebuilt using funds from an earlier donation from Jesse Purdy. In 1902, woodchuck hunting became an important part of local life and led to the development of a wooden duck hunt tower that still remains today at Main Street corner with Elm Road near where hunting began operations more than 150 years ago! In 1907, the town got its first electric light bulb! One interesting incident connected with Woodhaven’s early history occurred when two physicians working out of Harper’s Ferry Dam removed all human waste they found while working upstream during construction of that dam – one such event that led to prohibition regulations being put into effect across America!
On the corner of State and Woodward Avenue in Woodhaven, Michigan was a steel plant built in 1919. The plant processed steel for military and industrial purposes until it closed in 1969. The plant is now a museum.
