By 1870, there were 10 families living in Woodhaven with an average size of 5 members each. In 1880, one hundred residents lived in Woodhaven while only two businesses had been established since 1876: A store and a post office which both closed shortly thereafter due to economic conditions during the Panic of 1893-1894.

Woodhaven was a small community located in the center of Woodhaven Township, in Macomb County, Michigan. The population was 511 at the 2000 census. It was founded by settlers from Ohio in 1837. The community was abandoned following the death of its founder in 1840.
