Wixom, Michigan is a small city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Washtenaw County. The population was 11,314 at the 2010 census. It is the 9th most populous city in Michigan and its metropolitan area has a population of 24,711. Wixom is home to Wayne State University and four other colleges and universities as well as over 50 business businesses including Mackinac Bridge Company, which manufactures bridges and accessories; EMC Corporation; Northland Manufacturing; First Data Corporation; MichBioLabs Inc.; and others. In addition to its physical attractions, Wixom also offers education opportunities with Wayne State University's School of Business Administration having an enrolled student body of more than 3,000 students who Major in Business or Entrepreneurship. The first mention of what would become Wixom was on October 6, 1837 when George Stephenson founded the village on land that he had purchased from John Dibblee for $1 per acre (0.50¢ per square foot). A post office called "Wixom" was established in 1841, but it was discontinued in 1845 because there were no settlers from this location by then. On November 14, 1850, part of present-day Washtenaw County was organized from lands east side of I-94 between Clintonville Center Road (now US 131) and just south of where Wixom now stands when Hamilton Macomb became Governor of Michigan Territory following the Mexican–American War On July 5, 1865 Wixom became part of Lansing Township when it was split off from Washington Township along I-94 south to form Lansing Municipal District No 7 (later renamed Manton Township). On February 1st 1870 Manton Township lost its status as township when it merged with Lansing Municipal District No 8 to form Washtenaw County under Governor Lew Wallace's new government plan which placed all municipalities within first two grades except for townships with less than 10 residents which were placed into fourth grade until they reached 100 residents or were required by law to be placed into second grade In 1978 Washtenaw County erected a steel frame building at 4709 Woodward Ave SW used as the county offices until 1984 when a new courthouse replaced it . The old courthouse burned down on May 3rd 2009 after being damaged by fire

Wixom is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Wixom County. The population was 7,827 at the 2010 census. It is the fourth-largest city in Michigan and the second-largest city in Wayne County after Detroit. The town was founded in 1837 by John Greenleaf Whipple as a means to provide farmers with a site for their experiments with irrigation systems. The first post office at Wixom was established on December 12, 1837, under the name "Niles." The current post office was established on February 14, 1907, as part of an effort to commemorate American Presidents George Washington and James K. Polk who had both served in that office before becoming President of the United States. In 1916, Wixom became one of only two cities within Wayne County to be granted a charter under then-Governor John Sennett; it remains one today. Wixom has been home to two colleges: Wayne State University (founded 1913) and Western Michigan University (founded 1918). In 1957, WSU moved from its original campus south of downtown into what is now known as East Campus; WMU followed suit three years later and vacated its old main campus across Woodward Avenue from City Hall in downtownsite which formed Eastern Campus; this new location allowed for more interdisciplinary research than could have been done on either campus combined. Both institutions are still located there today although West Campus has become more densely populated due to development along Woodward Avenue between them since then. In 2006, Wixom became one of just 10 municipalities within Michigan that joined forces with Detroit to form Metro Region 1 – making it possible for businesses within metropolitan Detroit limits not just to do business with other businesses within Metro Region 1 but also citizens thereof without having their services taxed or regulated by higher levels up north outside those limits! This unique partnership helped expand opportunities for economic growth throughout southeast Michigan while reducing costs associated with regulation by higher levels up north where most services take place such as health care, education etc.—a feat not easily replicated anywhere else!

The first European settlers in what is now Ingham County were Frenchmen who arrived in 1796 as part of La Salle's Expedition. They named their land "Ingham" after General James Ingersoll, commander of the expedition. Wixom was founded by George Denny on February 14, 1827, as a post office on the Detroit River between what is now Midland and Oakland counties. On July 1, 1837, it became a city under the terms of an act of Congress approved that same day. It had a population of 793 when it became a city and grew to 10,000 by 1860; its growth accelerated thereafter due to industrialization and railroad construction in central Michigan. Wixom has been home to successive United States Senators from Michigan since 1923 until 2007, when Barack Obama was inaugurated as President of the United States and then they held their offices until 2009 while he served as Senator from Illinois Announced on November 20th 2017 that Wixom has become Home to The First African American Mayor in MI
