Wixom, Michigan is a town in Wayne County, Michigan, United States. The population was 2,814 at the 2010 census. Wixom is home to the main campus of Michigan State University and two other universities. It also has a large manufacturing sector that includes optics companies such as Infiniti and Ricoh. In recent years, however, Wixom's economy has been struggling and it has received criticism for its lack of job growth.

In the early 1900s, Wixom was a small community in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The town had a few sawmills and a few businesses. However, as technology improved, so too did optical accessories developed in Wixom. In 1916, an inventor named James Grafton invented what is now known as a "Grafton mirror". This mirror was designed to improve clarity and contrast when making photos or video recordings. Additionally, this mirror helped to improve vision during night time by amplifying light signals more effectively. By 1939, optical accessories had become increasingly important in society due to advances in technology and World War II. During World War II, Optical Components Ltd., which was located in Wixom at that time, became one of the largest producers of precision optics products in the United States. By 1945, Optical Components Ltd.'s production facility had been destroyed by fire but their archives remained intact and were later donated to University College London for research purposes. From these archives came many new technologies that have been used throughout history such as holography and 3D printing - both of which are now commonly used today across various industries including architecture and engineering
Wixom, Michigan is a small town in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 7,595 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids–Mackinac County metropolitan area and is the home of Western Michigan University. Wixom was founded in 1887 by Jno. Pritchard and others as an agricultural colony known as Albion Springs, named for a spring near Albion, England which had been used to provide water for early settlers in that region. The town grew quickly due to its location on the banks of the Hocking River, which made it easy to ship goods and materials overland from Ohio and other states east of Detroit. Wixom became a major transportation center for southeastern Michigan during the Progressive Era because it served as a key junction between trucking routes coming downriver from Toledo via I-75 and those traveling north along US 41 through Lansing into Indiana before reaching Detroit; this trunk road helped support large industrial plants such as Ford Motor Company's Rouge factory and General Motors' Oldsmobile plant at Benton Harbor—the latter two having opened in 1916 and 1920 respectively. During World War II, Wixom played host to more than fifty facilities belonging to both military forces (including an airfield) and government agencies (such as civil defense headquarters) including one established specifically for enemy aliens housed within Oak Park High School; these wartime institutions are now managed by Macomb County Community College District No. 2 which boundaries include most of downtown Wixom proper but does not include Oak Park High School or any other parts of downtown that were part of Warrington Township until 1959 when that township was annexed by neighboring Davenport Township; prior thereto all residents within this vecinity were zoned forOak Park High School purposes only without any implication that they also enjoyed local public services or voting rights). A total of sixteen schools — eight elementary schools, six middle schools, four high school — were built between 1951 and 1957 during what has come be called "The Great Expansion" period following passage by then-Governor George Romney (R) of legislation authorizing free public education throughout much rural Michigan regardless of wealth or lack thereof; this act also created The State Technical Institute which operated outfitted with state-of-the-art technology teaching methodsologies including correspondence learning utilizing television service providers across America while still providing individualized instruction opportunities to students who could afford it while still living close enough to their homes so they could continue receiving instruction even after leaving school daylight hours (this system later evolved into The Open Learning network). In addition to these sixteen schools there were numerous private academies/technical colleges operating within or adjacent to Wixom during this time period such as: Eastern Tech Institute –now Eastern Michigan University– founded in 1954; Washtenaw Community College –now Wayne State University– founded in 1955; Northern Illinois University –now Northwestern University– founded in 1963; Huron Valley Tech Institute –now Dowagiac Valley Community College–founded in 1969; Greenhouser Polytechnic Institute –nowPIAC Technology Center–founded in 1985—all located within walking distance either directly or indirectlyof municipal governments buildings making Wixom one big tech campus! In recent years many smaller technical colleges have moved away from downtown cores towards larger towns where enrollment rates are higher therefore limiting their impact on overall economic development However there remain several dozen technical colleges scattered throughout various villages/townships surrounding metro Detroit making up "The Technological Revolution" happening right now!

Wixom, Michigan is a city in the Kawkawlin County of east-central Michigan. The population was 9,724 at the 2010 census, making it the second most populous city in Kawkawlin County and its largest municipality by population. It is also one of the three cities that make up Muskegon Heights Township. The first settlement in what is now Wixom was made on July 8, 1837 when four men from Grand Rapids traveled to that area searching for a new home. They were joined by two other men several days later when they found land owned by John Sibley. The town was named after Amos Wixom, an early settler who purchased some of the land near where present day Wixom stands. The city's history can be traced back to 1872 when it was established as a village within Muskegon Heights Township. That year, residents voted to change their name to Wixom after being told by a group of local businessmen that there wasn’t enough competition for “Wexford” in adjacent Muskegon Heights Township. The name stuck and has been used ever since. In 1898, Grosse Pointe Lighthouse became part of the city limits and Wixom annexed portions of neighboring townships including Bay City and Gratiot until overall township boundaries were changed in 1931 so all villages within Muskegon Heights Township became part of one consolidated municipality with its own government and school district which lasted until 1984 when all municipalities within Muskegon Heights Township were dissolved and absorbed into Kawkawlin County as part of its larger plan to amalgamate all municipalities across county lines
