Ammunition history in Westland, Michigan began with the first shots fired from a cannon on July 4, 1813. The cannons at Fort Dearborn were used to fire shot at a target located on the town square. On that day, the first commercial ammunition was bought and sold in the city of Detroit. The city of Detroit also became home to what is now known as surplus ammo storage and distribution center. This facility was built in 1898 by John Fenton and his son-in-law, George Armstrong Custer. In 1917, Major General Lewis Hickey ordered all American guns be disassembled for re-assembly into artillery pieces in England because of World War I. powder production had decreased due to technological advances made by Germany during World War I. The munitions plant located at 711 Saginaw Street operated until it closed its doors in 1937 due to WWII bombings. During WWII, Ammunition Plant #3 was constructed at 901 Wabash Avenue east of downtown Westland. This plant produced armor piercing rounds called "Pipe Bombs" which were used against Japanese targets near Nagasaki and Hiroshima; this munitions campaign resulted in human casualties amounting to more than 300,000 dead or missing individuals! Ammunition Plant #3 continued operations until it closed its doors permanently in 1951 after over 50 years of continuous production! In 1951, Ammunition Plant #2 (now known as Ammo Storage & Distribution Center) opened on Wabash Avenue east of downtown Westland; this facility continued producing armor Piercing Rounds called "Tear Grenades" which were used against North Korean targets near Seoul; this munitions campaign resulted in civilian casualties amounting to over 100 fatalities! Both Ammo Storage & Distribution Center facilities wereclosed permanently following their respective wars! Wabash Avenue became home to what is now known as surplus ammo storage and distribution center once again when Ammo Storage Depot #1 reopened on Wabash Ave south of downtown Westland back in 1984 following the closure of Ammo Storage Depot #2! currently this structure houses an old spirit store which has been open since 1978!

Westland is a municipality in the U.S. State of Michigan, situated on the western shore of Lake Superior. The population was 5,811 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek-Lansing Metropolitan Statistical Area and is located adjacent to Lansing and Midland. The Village of Westland was organized in 1868 by farmers from East Grand Rapids and nearby towns as an agricultural community with a small post office. When railroads were built through Michigan in the late 1800s, passengers travelling between Lansing and Detroit would disembark at Westland for onward travel to those cities. As rail traffic dwindled after World War II, Westland became an agricultural center once again. Today, it remains a small town with close-knit families that rely heavily on agriculture for their income and cultural values. The first settler in what is now Westland was John Lovejoy who arrived in 1824 from Vermont via steamboat. He named his new town after himself, but it reverted to its original name when he died two years later while living in what is now East Grand Rapids. By 1840, there were only three people living in Westland: Lovejoy’s son Nathaniel, brother John Morse (the father of Commodore Matthew Cushing), and Joshua Potter (a blacksmith). However, by 1850 there were over 100 residents living in what is now Westland Township due to increased production on the local farms following land purchases by state officials during the era of American Colonization Society efforts to install white settlers near Indian reservations across central Michigan Free Soil Land Claim Act process which began in 1848 In 1867, George Stephenson founded Canadian Pacific Railroad at Wabasha Depot on north side of river just west of present day village limits; this depot served as Railway Headquarters for UP until November 1923 when operations transferred to Lansing along Ironton Road subject to US Army Garrison jurisdiction Fort Mackensen Command Post until September 1945 . In 1865 David Dennison established Dennison Manufacturing Company with major product being boots; company moved out west including homebuilt factory near present day village limits also built some sheds west side road still standing today Dennis opened plant about 1/2 mile east corner old schoolhouse lot next door current day church west side road today facing east

He named his invention Silver Bullet after his personal discovery but later changed it back to Cast Lead Bullet due to confusion over multiple naming conventions used throughout history

Westland is a small town in the Kalamazoo area of Michigan. The population was 1,645 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1836 by J.P. Westfall and others as a land grant to Jeremiah Lyon. The name comes from the Creek word wester, meaning "southwest." Westland has been inhabited since Paleo-Indians arrived in this region over 10,000 years ago. They would build mounds here, leaving behind evidence of their culture including pottery and artifacts. In 1836, Jeremiah Lyon received a grant from President James K. Polk to settle what is now Westland on 640 acres (248 ha). He named it for himself and his wife Sarah after scenes from the Book of Exodus where Moses leads his people from Egypt back into Canaan (now Israel). Today's west side of town began developing as farmers started moving in during the late 1800s looking for fertile land to grow crops such as corn, beans, wheat and potatoes. The first post office opened in 1888 and was called Waverlyville; it moved to its current location in 1912 when that part oftown was divided between Mecosta and Cheboygan counties along with other smaller townships within those counties. At that time Waverlyville consisted of only 4 homes; today there are over 100 homes located within walking distance of each other within downtown Westland proper or just outside its limits on three sides! In 1957 an electrical substation was built near downtown Westland which provided power for most areas within town limits until 1991 when all eastside households were connected by wire using transformer poles raised above ground! In recent history Westland has seen some growth both commercially and Locally; several new businesses have opened up including two restaurants/bars - CJ's Pizza & Wings and Chinese restaurant Dragon Garden - bothadin g around 2006-2008 followed by another clothing store - Western Apparel Establishment - later that year also bringing development back to Main Street with multiple storefronts being developed along one long axis extending more than 3 blocks south eastward across First Street towards cheboygan county line!
Westland was a small, rural community in the lower Peninsula of Michigan until the late 1800s. It was located on the west bank of the Ottawa River and straddled what is now Lansing Township to the east. The community was first established in 1827 as a post office and saw some growth during its early years. However, it slowly declined over time due to advancements in transportation and other industry expansions. In 1907, Westland merged with neighboring communities of Dexter to form the new city of Lansing. The merger led to increased development within Westland as well as closer ties between these two towns.Today, Westland is a small town that retains its rural roots while growing into an important cultural center for eastern Michiganders.
