Warren, Michigan is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Washtenaw County. The population was 39,459 at the 2010 census. It is known for its Blade Arts Center, Warren Furniture Museum, and Warren Iron Works which are all located in downtown Warren. The first mention of knives in the area is from 1836 when a man named John Fenton found two pieces of obsidian on his property that he thought were weapons from an ancient Indian tribe he had seen before. The first knife made in the area was called a Basket Knife which was crafted by stitching together two pieces of hardwood with leather thongs to create a handle. In 1868, when George Armstrong Custer was killed during his battle with General Philip Sheridan at Little Big Horn, his army's chef named Edward Dowling started making steel knives out of scrap metal taken from their dead horsemen and donkeys. By 1889, there were over 100 knifemakers operating in Warren using different techniques including forging, bifurcation and hammering to create unique blades such as bowieknives and kukris. One of the earliest examples of American made knives comes from 1895 when entrepreneur Cyrus McCormick began selling them under his McCormick & Co brand name in what is now Chicago suburb Ofallon Township near Detroit. McCormick's company became one of America's leading commercial producers of food items such as breads, cereal grains and dairy products until it merged into Kraft Foods in 1998. During World War II many local manufacturers produced military dagger-like tools including Waltham Cutlery Company which manufactured swords (and later pistols) for United States Military forces throughout North Africa and Europe before surrenders to allied forces at D-Day on 6 June 1944; remainder being surrendered by Japanese forces shortly thereafter at Nakajima Airfield near Kobe prefecture west central Japan In 1951 both Sperry Corporation (later owned by PepsiCo) and Lockheed Martin Missiles Division acquired Singer Sewing Machine Company becoming one major supplier to both Cold War US military commanders as well as other government organizations aroundthe world through its various subsidiaries including Singer Missile Corp., Singer Security Inc., Singer Aircraft Corporation etc.) withinMissiledy Limited company structure

Warren is a small town in Washtenaw County, Michigan, United States. The population was 2,822 at the 2010 census. The name of the town comes from Warrensburg (now part of Ann Arbor), Illinois, which was named for General James K. Polk. The first settler in what is now Warren was George Stephenson in 1814. The town was platted in 1835 by John J. Hill and David Sibley as a result of the Lansing Purchase Agreement between U.S. President James K. Polk and Great Britain's Prime Minister Palmerston. It became a city on December 3, 1867 when it annexed the neighboring towns of Dexter and New Lebanon. In 1899, it annexes the village of Carpentertown to its north due to population growth there; this annexation increased its population to 4,936 people by 2006 according to the 2010 census results). Warren is located at (42.765833,-89.566667). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all land.[1] As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 2,752 people,[3] 523 households,[4] and 692 families residing in the town.[5] The population density was 157 people per square mile (61/km²). Warren is a small town located in the lower Peninsula of Michigan. It was founded by John Warren in 1824 and has served as the county seat since 1836. The community lies on the east bank of the White River, just south of Lansing. The population was 7,405 at the 2010 census. John Warren was born in 1784 in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, to Revolutionary War veteran Samuel Warren and his wife Rebecca Putnam. He became a farmer and entrepreneur in what is now Warren County, Michigan. In 1824, he donated land to create what is today Warren Township (the name still remains). The white settlers who arrived here initially called it "Creekville." By 1830, however, they had renamed it after themselves – Warren Township. John HardingWarren served as its first resident justice from 1830 until his death in 1835. He was succeeded by his son Jonathan HardingWarren who held that office until 1840 when he also passed away. From 1840-1854, James KappFoster served as township treasurer and later district attorney before becoming its first Republican mayor from 1944-1948. During World War II (1941-1945), the village developed into an airfield manufacturing center with many aluminum products produced for America's wartime war effort; More than 1 million pounds of aluminum were manufactured here during that time period alone! The growth of Warren ensued during this time and by 1945 had reached over 10% each year growth rate! However, the post-war boom ended abruptly when economic conditions changed after 1945: steel production rose dramatically while aluminum prices plummeted; accordingly, much of the village's prosperity vanished overnight while other parts experienced slow or no growth at all thereafter! In 1950-1964 only 2 people lived permanently in town; by 2000 only 1 person remained! In recent decades there has been some redevelopment taking place to increase housing values within town limits – but overall progress has been very limited given current market conditions! Windsor Lumberjack Museum offers interesting insight into early 20th century logging practices which are still observable today on surrounding woodslands
Warren was a small town in the Kalamazoo District of Michigan until it lost its status as a city on July 1, 2009 when the town was merged into the larger city of Battle Creek.
